Depressed

I feel for you Vince, a day starting on a high ending on a low & all that.... :(

One thing concerns me though, nursing it back, twice.

I hope the nursing has not done any harm, unlikely I know, on the other hand, I know of times when a problem has arisen with a vehicle, the driver has nursed it back (define nurse? Small, petit & fit or 25st or 6ft 5 & scary!! :D )

It would have been nicer to read the car was recovered rather than nursed back....

I hope I'm being overly negative & it turns out to be something silly & simple to fix.

Lets just hope your right by nursed back i'm talking petit on the old accelerator, smaller than my mrs and she says she is 5ft, im not so sure.

to the rest of us that's 1k / 1.5k rpm at best and the car shaking about.

Pain in the rear. But as mentioned above it could be something simple such as a sensor, etc. Good luck getting it resolved. Just keep thinking how good it will be to be back in the drivers seat when it's fixed.

This is why I decided not to gamble and went the OPC route with my car. So far I've not had to use the warranty much but I did have an air con bill that would have been 4 figures, plus a seat belt replaced and the radio stopped working for a day or two so that needed looking at.

The way I see it, Vince paid £15k, plus £2k and then now £3k. So that totals at £20k and my car came in at about £22k. It crucially included 2 years of warranty though through OPC which is valued at about £2k (£800 per year for the warranty and £200 per year for the 111 point check).

That was my thinking behind backing myself with the OPC warranty.

Equally though Vince ran his Boxster S without one and didn't have any issues.

Before someone jumps in I am aware our cars are different cars, different generations, different engines etc.... but he's had a Boxster before and from what I've read the 987 Boxster S is a very decent car even when compared with 911's (996 cab, 997 cab).

Hope it's an easy fix and gets sorted today mate!

As I have said previously it's about luck at this end of the market. You might get a solid one that never throws a problem up and just runs and if so then happy days, but if they do go wrong you can be staring at a 5K bill in the blink of an eye. Hopefully this will be a simple problem and sorted with a spanner in 30 mins.

ill bring my bright red ticking timebomb, there would be a healthy chance that properlols would ensue and vince's life wouldnt seem so bad

this thread reminds me of why porsche ownership terrifies me.

Equally for a next car (assuming I can't get insured on a Mustang), Porsche would probably be the first brand I look at simply down to the fact the OPC warranty is unbeatable.

My GF's 54 plate 1.4TDi Polo with only 35k more miles than my car has cost us more than double what we have spent on my car since I've owned the Porsche (everything excluding fuel, so insurance, tyres, repairs, MOT, tax, servicing).
