Depressed

Life is looking up this morning, half a days work then at mid day I'm attending a boat party on the Thames - Free food and drink should help a lot... who said there was no such thing as a free lunch?

Of course i'm starting to get the feeling an essex meet is on the cards. We could all go and sit on Southend sea front with the pimped up corsas sharing tales of what may have been. To be honest i'm excited.

i win before we even start, i have angel eye headlights :D:D:D

I actually have a corsa... Granted it is stock but im in there with the crew! Just gonna get me some 18" RIMZZZZZ, A nurberg ring sticker and debadge that bad boy.... people will actually think its a ferrari... True story.

I forgot to mention its running premium ditch finders at the front as well... just to keep it 'in keeping' with that scene.

Ohh you may actually be able to help me. I'm going to refurb the porka wheels once I get it back and need something to sit the car on while i'm doing it. don't suppose those wheels are big enough to fit over my brakes? Looks don't matter either as she will be hiding in the garage while the wheels are in my spare room.

Was thinking about trying to put it on axle stands in the garage but don't have enough clearance either side to put it in there, jack it up then take the wheels off.

[rant]I don't get it. You own a 1999 Carerra 4 which has developed a serious fault, that you caught early enough to have repaired and not need a replacement engine.

It is looked after by a family friend mechanic, who happens to specialise in Porsches, who has fixed the problem.

When you go to pick the car up another problem arises. I'd expect this is not uncommon with rebuilt engines. Maybe just a hose not done up tight enough.

So...

...my mechanic drove me the 10 miles home and said that it will be looked at as a matter of priority before he leaves on holiday...

That is probably the best outcome you can expect in your situation (short of a fleet of 911 specialists being flown in from germany, overnight parts from japan etc.).

I now sit here totally deflated and depressed

Seriously?! It's a car with a problem that is being fixed. It is not on fire, it has not run off with your wife. The problem will be fixed and you will have your 911 back.

Lots of people would love to be able to be worried about their 911. If that is the only worry in your life you are a lucky, lucky man.

Deflated and depressed  ffs, **** off![/rant]

and breathe... :p

Ditto.

£3k makes my eyes water just thinking about it lol.

3k is just the tip of the iceberg with these cars, Will Gill on here used to have a 997 and when the engine went pop in that he was looking at somewhere in the region of 12k. Needless to say at that point he cut his losses.

I also spoke to Hartech and a full rebuild of a 996 engine with those guys can range from 5 to 10k depending on just what you want done. It's an expensive world the Porsche world but when they work they are hugely satisfying.

I think it was £12k that WillGill needed to pay with Porsche agreeing to pay the the rest, so a total much higher than £12k for a cracked cylinder head.

Might be wrong though.

I thought it was scored bores. Or cracked Cylinder lining. Either way that is a hefty chunk. The good news for me is that my bores are silky smooth, heads are in superb nick as well as the clutch, dmf etc all being in top top condition. My IMS is also rock solid and there are no leaks from the RMS. So general engine condition appears to be top bannana.

lol I'm joking :p :)

Janesy was having some BANTER

I see... good work fellas, way to go on confusing me :P Yea yea it doesn't take much I know!

Oh dude i forgot to mention, you know that image you sent me can you resend without your watermark, yea, yea I know but for what i'm using it for they keep refusing it because, well, they are basically *******.

You alright there dude, want to take a seat or can I offer you a coffee? To be fair depressed may be pushing it a bit but just saying "its rubbish" doesn't quite have the same impact. ;)

Yeah, sorry. Just going through some stuff at the moment.

Nice to have a little rant :o
