£700 phone bill in 2 weeks?

unfortunately Everything Everywhere (the merger of t mobile and orange) are renowned for this sort of thing. O2 have a maximum pricing of £1 per day for out of contract data usuage no matter how much you use. Although shocking and highly wrong at the end of the day she was at fault so will likely have to pay which will be in the T's&C's. Fingers crossed she can negotiate with them but I wouldn't hold my breath. People really need to be careful with data though...its not too bad with O2 but even then you can get a shock bill if its £28 over what it should be. She really should have realized though especially if doing software updates etc over the air. Does the school not have wifi or anything?

Secondly, When you buy a new phone you NORMALLY always know what kind of plan you are on and stick to it. For Example if you know your on a 1Gb/2Gb package you can work out how much usage you are using up by just using common sense.

Without a doubt this 700 pounds was NOT caused by Whatsapp alone, I used it 20/30 times a day to friends on my 3G connection with a 1Gb Limit and never went over once even with Photos and Videos per month.

I suggest you take a look in your phones settings as all the information will be on there as well.

no 1gb limit or any limit at all involved so very possible she could hit £700 with whatsapp and downloading software
 
The last firmware update for my S2 was at least 200Mb, so that size isn't really surprising if it included all previous ones.

Interestingly having a look at T-Mobile's business terms they have the same £1 cap per day on internet charges for tariffs with no data allowance, which probably indicates the school is on a really old contract.
 
I know that before I had a smartphone or a data allowance, very occasionally I would use Track ID (similar to Shazam) on my old SE phone. it used to cost over a £1 a time in data, so I imagine £700 wouldn't be all that hard to do.

£700 pffft. I had a bill last year of £2000 for one days worth of downloads on my old Iphone 3g. I was let off fortunately and only payed £120. Tell her to have a go and say the kids had the phone without her permission??
 
Well the IT guy said he's going to get on it by wednsday. As above its a £1 cap per day on internet charges for tariffs with no data allowance, so hopefully will be able to work something out. Its a pretty big contract T-mobile have got with the school so hopefuly they will play nicely.

No way she can afford it, worse come to worse well all just chip in.
 
Think O2 charged me £50 while I was in turkey, they said it won't cost anymore, which worked out nice. Sounds like that little phone update owned the bill, bet the lad that did it feels a bit of a retard now Lols.
