His GPU is far inferior. Tell him to run a Unigine Heaven 3.0 benchmark and you do too on the same settings so he can see for himself how much his card gets smoked.

How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

1100/5200 with 1.15V isnt too bad, what overclocking software do you use? because you may be able to push your card higher than that with more voltage.
I´m using Asus GPU Tweak. As I said, 1100/5200 was not very stable; last time i ran the Heaven bench there was an ocasional white screen flickering between frames. So I´m using 1050/4800 atm. And no matter how much I up the voltage, cant get past 1100 without Heaven freezing.

He's delusional if he thinks that. There is no way that it will be anywhere close to the 7850.

I have a MSI 7850 TF3 OC (not the PE) with an ASIC quality of 75,8% which is pretty low
I wanted to do some OC just to see where I can take it and it turns out that it's a really poor clocker. It does 1050 core on stock volts (I didn't bother with increasing the mem but I'm pretty sure it would go bonkers on me if I did) using MSI Afterburner hitting the limit. I've bypassed the limit using the missing files from 12.1 and it turned out that the card plays up even at a mere 1060 mhz;p I've switched to ASUS Gpu Tweak to have voltage control and 1060 mhz required 1,143v from the stock 1,138. However, 1070 needed about 1,155v
I'm also worried about the card's temps. It idles at a nice and cool 30-32 C but under load it goes up to 70-73 in demanding games (Witcher 2 EE) and this is without overvolting (1050 mhz). When I read on all the forums that these cards reach 58-62 C it makes me worried. Well' I do reach such temps but in Dirt 3 and Mass Effect 3 or something. Is it normal?

Hi, I took the advice of one of the guys here about getting a gellid icy vision 2, and I'm really bloody happy with it. The cards never gone above 45 degrees at full load so far, and quite happily ran arout heaven at 1200 / 5600 clocks at stock voltage 
I'm going to see how far I can push it tonight. It has had the downside of making my computer sound like a jet engine though :s, I'll have to see what I can use to limit the fans.

well ive been debating about getting a 7850 then it was a 7870 then the 7950 but think i was just getting carried away tbh lol
but im thinking i only run 1920x1080p so the 7950 would probably be overkill tbh am i right?(mostly just playing gw2 at the mo which my 6850 hadles pretty well everything on max bar shadows at medium about 30-38fps)
also am i right in thinking after overclocking the 7850 its as quick as a 7950 or? and oc's to the same level as a 7870 oc is this right?
i curently have a overclocked 6850 will i see much difference going upto a 7850 oc'd?

Does anyone know how to unlock voltage control in Afterburner 2.2.3 for a 7850? I have the Thermaltake A90 case which should provide decent airflow but unfortunately my rig is cramped in a small cabinet and there probably is not enough room for the air coming out of the back exhaust fan (there's probably about 30 cm to the wall but the front intake fan and the upper exhaust should have enough room). Well I could alter voltage using the newest GPU Tweak but I just prefer Afterburner, it opens quicker, I like the OSD feature and the overall interface. From what I heard, Trixx forces constant voltage so that it doesn't change between 2d/3d mode.
