iRacing

I think my sub runs out in a week and I'm not going to renew for a few months. I need to set aside some time to play the shed load of unplayed/unfinished games in my Steam account.

I've got that problem, especially with the sales :p Just can't bring myself to not play iRacing...

cheers skill love you 2.

sorry not been around or racing but RL really bad right now and im moving back home to yorkshire, but this means ill have no space for my rig so i wont be racing for a while, i might be able to but it will be single screen setup and i dont know if ive got a suitable desk to clamp my wheel to...

:p

 Still no work available then? That sucks, hope it picks up soon :)

Bought a sub a while ago on some offer, only really had a proper go at it in the last week or so. Hoping to move up to D license in Road and Oval before next season but not sure what to do once the new season starts. I've only done a couple of races on either side, mostly just hanging back being patient and making places when the wrecks happen ahead of me.

In a way I'm wondering whether to just race on in the rookie series for a full season to learn more about iracing, race craft etc and hope not to have to buy any cars/tracks. Or try and race in something like the Street Stocks (which I'm enjoying atm and I think is getting a D level series next season) or focus on road and buy the bits necessary for Skip Barber series, decisions.... think I may be getting into it though, if only I were any good :P

There are class D series that utilise the MX-5/SRF or Solstice so no new car to buy at least (check the schedule but I believe some of them run some non-free tracks), these should offer the better racing to learn with whilst minimising cost :)

Although on the other hand the Skippy rocks, if you can get over the crazy back end, before spending any money on it drive the SRF, if you like/can get on with that then the Skippy is similar, if you find it evil then don't go putting much money into the Skippy :p

Haven't got it yet mate, glad i didnt buy barber in the end anyway seems it was impossible to get a race. Spotted you in the Lotus earlier think thats the school we both joined not sure only really got into it myself the other week.

Stunning car mind, as to be my favourite now :D

Yeah, think that was the school, interesting to see how it's changed, last time I drove it it was on rails far more often, I believe because the model was broken and allowing the rear of the car to go 'below' the tarmac with do drag penalty just moar downforce... Now it's much more 'normal' in the sense you'd expect a powerful old F1 car to be, quite good fun :)

Think I still rate the Radical a bit above it, kinda similar in a sense but I find the radical far easier to drive, still might try to get some lotus races in at some point if I've got the time :)

Poor turnout for Barber, my one official race was fun though, albeit a bit of a poor ending, had worked my way from 11th to 3rd and was holding that strongly when I screwed up one corner, let the guy in 4th past and when trying to get a run on him he lost it and I punted him and ended up scraping the wall. Got the meatball but close enough to the end to ignore but car was bad enough that I went from 3rd to 6th anyway :p

Do you mean the very short pauses like at around the 52 second mark? They do sound a bit odd not sure what it could be but might be worth posting on the forums over there (or emailing support) I'm lead to believe they're usually quite helpful...

What we all racing this season ??

Im going with the Radical as my main drive.
Lotus as my weekend whore :P to ride for fun.
Mustang just because I had to to buy it *but it much better than I had thought*

Mx5 inracing news thingy. Ill be giving this a run once the Radical Rcaing finishes on Sunday. 2 Top 3 finishes so far so going good.

Ill be staying clear of the rookie cup this season. As im doing well in both the radical and inracing news cup.

Stuck me in division 3 this season for both had a good start so far but this points system doesnt half confuse me anyone no where theres some concrete info on the system ?

It's all in the Sporting Code, under reference on the member site...

But in general, expanding on GraveYard's post:

Per race you get points based on SOF and position.

Per week it's an average of your best 50% of the races, so:
1st Race - 110 points
2nd Race - 105 points, 110 points counted
3rd Race 120 points, 115 counted (110 + 120 divided by 2)
4th Race 130 points, 125 points counted (120 and 130, so the 110 and 105 points are dropped)

Note that this means each week the even races (2nd, 4th etc) are 'free' you can't drop your weeks score in them, only improve :)

And finally season, your best 8 scores are counted, so 4 'drop weeks' which can either be your worst scores or missed completely.

i really need to get back into this, with the problems at home and pedal problems ive really lost my way with iracing, need to get it back...

Absolutely not, its not chasehq unfortunately :(

I tried using 360 pad and a joystick, somehow the joystick worked better. seriously needs a wheel, was doing lovely loops in a simple mx5

I'm finally getting back into this again and I'm concentrating on the Skippy again. I really feel I've got the hang of it now and have been enjoying Week 2 of Season 3 at Brands Hatch (the only track I've ever driven in real life, albeit the Indy circuit).

Took about 15-20 laps to get comfortable but I managed to finish 1st in my first race, came 2nd in my second and then had a poor finish in my third as I span whilst in 5th.

It's on Spa now but I move house tomorrow so I need to get one race in to register a score as I'll be without internet until the 25th. I've not tried Spa yet so will be going in somewhat blind.

I love this game :)

We need more of you to man up and come race one of the best Sim cars there is the Radical :D

Catch myself(The noob) Skill(The charming Brit) and Gravey(The Rager) there most nights

Well...

Autumn is nearly here which means time to race.

My account has been inactive for a while since spring.

Just received an email offering 2 years for the price of 1 ($99).

Time to get out of these Mazdas, been stuck in the rookies for a year - lol.

Time to get my *** into gear.

Well I spent nearly £200 on my pedals and then stopped playing, typical!

Might renew in a few months when I get time.

I finally registered last week and to be honest I haven't gotten into it at all. The Cadillac feels strange to me, always wants to oversteer mid corner as though pivoting on a centre point. The Mazda feels better but its too slow to be much fun.

The sounds are weak too but the graphics are great imo. I prefer the crisp, clean look over the OTT post processed graphics I usually see in other racers.

I'm going to put more time into it but I don't see me buying any additional content for it.
