US Open Tennis 2012

Ok so it would appear the men's semi finals are being played on Saturday with the final on the Sunday...if anything absolutely terrible scheduling to have the semis the day before the final.

There were moves to have the final on a Monday due to rain delays etc but that hasn't happened. Will be interested to see the proposed scheduling for tomorrow as if both men's semis are in Ashe as well as the women's final then whoever plays first will have a massive advantage in my eyes.

Will probably see 1 semi final on Ashe and then the next on One first up on both! Seems bizarre however.

Murray down 1-0 :(

Although up a break in the Second set...

The conditions are just brutal for the players though, ball is going anywhere at times and play has been stopped due to a floating plastic bag...:p

It's actually madness out there!

The women's final has been moved to Sunday now meaning the Men's final might not start until Midnight or something

I'm now hoping they play the Men's final on Monday so I can watch it no problem.

There are problems every year with this bloody tournament and it's usually down to the weather and **** poor organisation. It's about time they got someone to run it properly or dumped it for somewhere with a better climate.

Murray now 2-1 up and in cruise control

3-0 up in the fourth and lost his serve then it stayed with serve until the tiebreaker. Berdych now in control.

Edit: Murray recovers from 5-1 in the tiebreaker to win 3-1.

Two Brits in the US Open final

Very tough day to play tennis...glad Murray is in the final and it will be interesting to see how Novak and Ferrer handle the conditions next.

He'll need to play a lot better than that to win the final. Poor quality match with the wind tbh, I wonder how Novak will cope with the wind and if he manages to finish tonight. Really glad he is through though :)

Agreed, very tough. When I used to play tennis, I didn't mind the rain or cold but playing in windy conditions was not much fun at all!

If the storms predicted for around 7pm NY time arrive, I'm not sure whether the other semi-final will see a conclusion tonight. If it doesn't, I'm guessing the final will roll over to Monday.

-edit- Blimey, they're not hanging about. Djokovic and Ferrer have already started!!

One of the reasons why Roger Federer is the best indoor players ever, his game doesn't suit the outdoors (unbelievable to think I know)...wind takes so much out of a players game especially if they like to manipulate the ball over power.

That's one of the reasons why Berdych was going to be tough, he just powered the ball through the wind at times today.

Regardless of whether this finishes tonight or not I really hope the Mens Final is moved to Monday, I want to be able to sit about out Monday night and enjoy it rather than be up to all sorts of hours if goes on after the women's final tomorrow.

Ferrer a break up early doors against Novak!

I guess that all but cements the fact that the Men's Final will be Monday? They won't make Djokovic/Ferrer play twice in one day?

Looks like they're evacuating the whole of Flushing Meadows area!
Hope they keep the cameras in there somehow!

If there's the majority of the semi-final to play then it will mean a Monday final, yes. If it was just a few minutes, then they would have the option of playing the final a few hours later but doesn't look like that's going to happen.

It will be Monday now!

For once Murray gets a wee bit of luck of the draw...I remember he had to finish his Semi with Nadal the next day then face Fed the day after in the final...while Federer got his rest of course!

It could even be Ferrer :p

I'm glad to see Murray made it through in four sets, for a while I thought it might have to go to a fifth. It's rather unfortunate for Ferrer and Djokovic though that whoever wins will have to play on consecutive days - I think the US Open needs to sort out the scheduling a bit better and/or consider having courts that can function in all weather conditions.

Nice break for Andy now. Finished today in 4 sets, and the other 2 have played today and will have to play tomorrow with the final on Monday.

Andy should have confidence surging through him. A real now or never moment methinks.
