**CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 650D OWNERS THREAD** ALL QUESTIONS HERE.

Thank you so much for the information. By the way is it worth getting FX 6100? or is there any alternative better than that? What do you recommend ?

I agree with the other poster who said not to get the 6100. AMD Bulldozer CPUs are pretty bad when compared with Intel's offerings at the same price. I'd recommend getting a 3570k, it does cost more than a 6100 but it delivers the performance to warrant it. If you ask anyone on here, they will tell you it is the ideal gaming CPU for the price, especially if you overclock it.

Does putting Silencing Foam helps? is it going to lower the efficiency of air flow?

My case has it, I can't really say how much difference it makes since it was stuck to the panels from the start, but it doesn't lower fan efficiency since it is only on the side panels- not in front of the fans themselves. Only thing to bear in mind is when you put foam on the right side panel (the one behind the motherboard tray) because it will decrease the space available for cable management behind the mobo tray. Mine all still fit, though only just- the right panel springs off when I remove it :)

thank you for all the advice. i am planning to go for i5 2500k, with Asus Maximus V Gene, and HIS 7850. I'll see how much noise they make, then i'll decide to have the foam installed. My budget is only 750. i wonder if is enough for a mid-high end pc.:(

Hello, has anyone converted the front to take 240 rad? cos a "200mm" rad seems a bit of a pain.

My idea was to get a piece of metal (alu) and well make a adaptor out of it really.

Demciflex do a filter kit for the Corsair 650D, anyone spotted any in the UK. Overclockers stock Demciflex filters but i don't see the one for the 650D, they are supposed to be better than the stock ones and allow better air flow and filtering.

I have the filter for the side intake. It does the job but is very pricey for what it is. If I was to do it again, I'd wrap the side mesh in a nylon fine grade material from a UK stockist.

The front one is fine, just needs regular cleaning.

Ive now also installed a cooler master megaflow to the top exhaust as well as the front and the difference between the stock ones is like night and day, its really quiet and you can hardly hear a thing.

Is anyone else getting a vibration from their optical drive if its on the top bay due to all the cables that come from the front panel ?

Their are quite a few cables that come from the front panel and their is very little space between the case and the top of the optical drive and the cables are vibrating on the drive.

Nothing wrong with mine, Just pull all the wires out the way and cable tie them to the back of the disk drive rack

i have spectre pro fans in mine. for the amount of air they shift compared to the competition, they really aren't that noisy. Most annoying thing is the cables for the usb 3.0 ports!

The reason the 'megaflows' are quiet is because they are pushing hardly any air, even on full. They should be called meagreflows :p. Also the megaflows use crappy sleeve bearings that dont last as long as ball bearings or fluid bearings. They might end up getting louder as the sleeve bearing wears.

The one [TW]Sponge recommended is probably a much better option. You can hook it up to the fan controller to turn it down and have the option to turn it up during gaming.

The hard drive monitor LED and the power button LED on the 650D, are these just standard type LED's or do you need to get the correct type as i wouldn't mind changing them to a different colour instead of just plain white.

Thinking of doing the same on my 2. Will have a look tomorrow but it looks like its just a 10MM LED.

One question i have regarding the top hot bay for a hard drive.

Has anyone tried to disconnect the firewire cable and the hard drive cable from the under side so you have less cables to try and hide as they are quite a bundle that come from the front panel as well as those for the top hard drive bay.

Ive pulled on them and they seem quite tight, didn't want to over do it until i knew of someone else thats taken them out.

Thats great Bob, keep us updated.

Got bored so had a quick look lol.

Looks like it can be done, you can unscrew the housing of the power button/USB hub bit and seems that u can take it apart but I wasnt able to with the cramped conditions (I didnt take the housing all the way out and I didnt want to unhook everything).

Doubt I'm going to bother with it, for the moment at least. Maybe after I'm back from my holiday and I want to fiddle! :)

You can take the top drive bay cables completly out, theres 2 screws and it just slides out.

For the firewire, As my above comment, it seems its all housed quite well, just need to dismantle the housing and disconnect the cables you dont want.

Does anybody get a low toned, but faint buzzing? At first I thought it was my wndow resonating and tightened up about 3 slightly loose screws. But the buzzing still persists!

I'm wondering now if the HDD cages are prone to vibrating? I only have 2x 7200 rpm drive installed, but as soon as I take the left side panel off, the buzzing seems to stop.

Yes you can fit them as I have one in my 650D at the front although you have to move the HDD cage to the rear mounting point, they should fit in your 600T as it is identical on the inside. You will probably get a buzzing noise from the Spectre pro as it sits too close to the grill I got rid of this noise by cutting the blades off my stock fans and using the frame of the stock fan as a spacer, now its silent even at full speed.

I know they fit in the front but do they fit in the top?
