Crop circle - this one's definitely not aliens

How can you not believe in alien life or the paranormal?

Paranormal = no
Aliens = yes

Somewhere out there in the vastness of the Universe are other lifeforms and I personally believe that life finding a way is a core element of the Universe.
Whether that life has become intelligent is another matter but no matter how much of a Trekker I am, I can't believe that lifeforms have made their way here ever because of the distances (unless lifeforms came on meteors and helped to kick start life on Earth).

Panspermia is a possibility.

from what i have read and seen on science shows etc it seems that we are just very very lucky to have certain events happen at certain times to our planet.

for example there is a train of thought that without the moon we would have no life here. the tides helped the formation of life in rock pools. of course we will never really know. we dont even know for sure how we got the moon. crashed planet or meteor hitting us (which would kill us all now) etc...

It's well known that the Universe is a big game of chance and randomness although there is order that has to be followed, cause and effect?

Life most likely did kick start here from deposits via meteors, they found evidence of this many times now in deposits under ice etc that are millions of years old. Those same rocks from the host meteor could have landed on other planets in other solar systems and life as we don't know it could have formed as well.

Reduced yes, but still possible.

The universe is, as far as we know, infinite. That means infinite planets, infinite possibilities. The chances are that there are races that have died out, that are existent and less advanced than us, and that are far more advanced than us. The possibilities cover all bases.
I don't think so...

There is an infinite amount of space in the universe for matter to occupy... But matter itself, forming things such as planets, is finite, so there cant be an infinite amount of actual planets.

If you keep travelling in one direction for an eternity you will come to a point where there is no more matter, just empty boundless space waiting to be filled by the expansion of the universe. Filled by you. You'd have to travel pretty damned fast to overtake it though.

totally agree - but I still think its ridiculous that anyone can believe that Aliens sophisticated enough to travel at light speed or above (unless they are very old ..) would come to Earth then decide to communicate by "graffiti" on crops ... - then after all that effort to "communicate" - don't show themselves

yeah righty

I think we can forgive him for using the wrong word but there are most definitely millions and millions of 'Cinderella' planets out there all that would be capable of having life as we know it.
There could be some type of creature that is intelligent as us (or way more) but distances still have to be travelled.
Fuel still has to be consumed and pilots still have to be told that everything they know will be dead by the time they get back from their mission of making a shape in a field.

Don't be absurd. Aliens don't leave geometric shapes in corn fields to try to communicate with us. It's the marks left by their spaceships when they touch down? :rolleyes:

Can we at least think about this rationally?

Likewise if you're refusing to believe in the paranormal you're assuming that everything in the known universe can be picked up via five human senses, or by human technology, which is also crazy.

If we can't see evidence of it with our senses or with any technology we have made then it is crazy to believe it as we have no evidence in support of it.

aha - nano Aliens :)

makes their journey across light years of space even more amazing

although perhaps thats the only way to bend physics - be ultra ultra small

hold on a minute - this is starting to make sense

imagine doing all that then walking past this
