Honestly you are making yourself sound stupid.
Agreed, macca you keep banging that broken drum. The ZT / 75 is regarded as a very capable platform, backed up by some excellent engines.
You'll always get the 'haters' though, amongst the regulars on here that know about cars and have bothered to experience a ZT / 75 or at least know what they're talking about, they look more than a little silly.
On a side note, I had a ZS for a good few years, while a very capable car it was nothing like the 75 / ZT. You can just tell Rover put effort into them, even a late 75 / ZT feels properly put together. My ZS always felt a little cobbled together - after all it was a 1990s Civic with hard suspension, dragged into the 21st Century.
I currently have a diesel 400 again, but will definitely consider a nice ZT again when the time comes, either in 190 or 260 form depending on house / career moves.
I still think 3k is a bit much, go in at 2.5 as mentioned and you're onto a winner. Low mileage is a plus, though - just means the hydraulics are probably original and therefore liable to fail at some point. Still, hardly a big bill for such an excellent car.
To the posted who knows 2 unlucky individuals with a ZT - it's quite rare they have such issues. The electrical issues are probably due to a flooded plenum chamber, a quick Google shows how to check for this. If it has done, whip the ECU from the plenum, open it up and clean any water residue off the PCB. Leave it to dry for a day or two, then back together - that'll probably sort it. Fixed mine.
Finally, willy waving time. This was my beloved ZT 190, with the driver intelligence pack and factory fitted 'Sport' suspension - god it was hard! I averaged around 27mpg from memory, got it down to 9 on a good drive though.
