Hello
I have a 8yr+ 200GB HDD that I just salvaged from my old PC to put in my new one as a temp option.
I'm wondering if I was to buy a new HDD, different manufacturer and different GB. Would I be able to run both at the same time?

Although I'm sure my old HDD is holding back my PC performance as it takes ages to start up and settle down. As soon as I have the desktop showing, I try to open my browser and it struggles.

Intel i7
RAM 4GB
HDD 200GB (18GB left)

Yes, you can run several hard drives at once.
Yes your hard drive is likely to be a massive bottleneck in your system, things have improved a lot in 8 years.

Look into an SSD for a boot drive I would, it makes a dramatic difference.

Thats good because I may keep my old HDD just for music etc.

I've been thinking about a SSD but unsure if I would use it for boot or games or both.
Put it this way. I have a 200GB HDD and all thats on my PC is games and a few Screenshots from games and I have 18GB free space...

Think I would need the HDD for games.

Whats the durability of SSD compared to HDD? Longer they last the better is what I'de like to go for.
Any opinions?

Don't worry about them...just use it as you would a HDD.

Yes they have finite writes, but with normal use they will be almost antique by the time you've worn them out.

This is what I would do.

Buy a Crucial M4 (64 or 128 GB) for Windows/Programs, buy a 1TB hard drive for your files.

yeah thats what I plan on doing but going to get the HDD first then when I get some spare cash, buy the SSD and restart from there.
