LPG 'conversion' for Diesels???

I've heard of some guys having a propane injection system to complete the burn when using veg oil.

And as for fitting extras to a modern dagdag, don't bother. The newer engines are so fiddly fragile they cost stacks when bits go wrong, plus offsetting the conversion costs.

I wouldn't trust a site like that.

With car stuff the website usually has little bearing on the quality of the work. A lot of the people doing this sort of stuff are not all that up with technology and arn't aware of the difference a good website can make to people.

My local mechanic back home has a god awful website but he is top notich.

Ruddy hell. "Prices with a fully computer controolled lpg system and basic tank start from £1200 inc vat"

That's a LOT of diseasil money.

I was being drawn to all the marketing blurb and thought it might be a good idea... may have still gone for it if they were lpga approved etc.

recently got myself an 06 BMW E91 Touring 3.0 ... waiting to have it de-swirled :)

Don't fiddle with something nice like that. Maybe look at a proper remap, cheaper than the lpg and give better results.

Get the swirl thing done first though!

you're probably right.. just need someone sensible like yourself (et al) to tell me :P

Yes, might treat myself to a remap in a few weeks time when money is a little better :)

yeh, managed to get myself a very good DIY guide on how to do it. Blanking plates on order so shouldn't be too long before i get to drive it around :P (bit scared at the moment even with short trips!)

got momentarily suckered into the marketing and the promise of a more powerful car with fuel savings to boot.

at least i came here first right? :)

Kind of worrying you were even considering LPGing a diesel tbh.

Not really, propane injection on diesels has been around (afaik) a while. All that's happened here is some wires have been crossed. They're not talking about using LPG instead of diesel to power the engine, more info

yep... i'm sure people know... it's adding a mix of diesel with lpg (typically 70/30 mix) and that apparantly means you burn up 98% diesel instead of the reported 80% (it can't be true that modern diesel engines only burn around 80% of the diesel it uses???)

apparently this method means a big boost in power and obviously you're using less diesel and using more of the cheaper lpg.
