Was going through some first impressions vids last night on youtube, seems to be quite a few people also finding the same thing with the game, that being one side will usually get totally raped by 100+ tickets and its only the occasional game that goes to the wire. Goes for bf3 as a whole not just the expansion.

Yeah, noticed that myself (in terms of just how big of a difference in tickets) as well and in some games it is by a lot! Video posted above or on the last page and one team absolutely got raped, difference of 500 tickets+ in the end......

Really do not see the point of it, completely takes the fun out of the game even if you are on the winning team.

I was recon on last night, thought i'd whip out the SOFLAM for my team to take advantage on the massive levels with all these vehicles.

...not one person with a Javelin... *facepalm.jpg* HELP ME TO HELP YOU!

Quite the opposite in my experience. I was running around with Javs last night, not one bloody SOFLAM hehe! :)

Nice un Matt.:)

Regarding the AC-130, on conquest i found it pretty easy to bring down with the c-ram air defence system. Just kept burst firing at it.

Gotta go back to work again so no gaming till later tonight.:(

First impressions are, well it does what it says on the tin, you have to like using vehicles to really enjoy this, otherwise, don't really bother. There are TDM's for sure which are ok, but would you really want to pay extra for just 4 maps?

Got thoroughly bored of the large vehicle maps, just a lot of waiting round for vehicles or walking. Back to BC2 I think. It just has that "zip" that BF3 has always lacked.

IMO remove the AC-130 from Rush altogether. If the teams are even its hard enough defending when theres just a few tanks etc to worry about. It's almost impossible if you have to worry about taking down a AC-130 and people paradropping in from every angle.

You cant push up as a defensive unit, you end up completely disjointed. Thats what I love about Rush, two teams head to head, attack and defence. Work as a team and you'll win. You cant group up with the AC-130 else you'll all die.

I've played on both PC and Xbox, it's easier on PC because theres generally more players, but on Xbox its tough because it's only 12 vs 12, and you need atleast 2-3 with Stingers to take out the AC-130, plus another guy is normally in the plane so that leaves about 8 players defending two MCOMs, then when the AC-130 kills a few of them its just an impossible task.

I would even be semi happy with the Paradrop being disabled... I've seen MCOM's being planted before the defending team can even get to them.

It's funny because one of the reasons DICE decided to leave out the parachutes from Bad Company 1 was because they were worried people would paradrop from the helicopters over the MCOMs, ruining the balance.

So fed up with the landslide wins in this game, never had as much of a problem in BC 2 with regards to this on both conquest and rush. Every rush game I played today (vanilla maps), one team just get raped instantly all the time, coms armed within like 3 minutes and gone.

Anyway, new way to deal with the AC130:

I can fly aircraft pretty well, not as good as the "pros" who spend more than half their time in a jet/heli though :p, but I never bother with them at all really now, too annoying having constant lock ons, AA firing at you and trying too loose jets (with good pilots). Average lifespan for me is like 5 minutes in aircraft and I don't have the patience of firing flares to then fly back to my own base in order to get away from all the stinger users etc. and wait for the flares to return, rinse and repeat :p

You spend most of your time trying to do all the above rather than actually helping out the ground troops with regards to destroying tanks, helis and jets (well I do anyway :p)

Apparently armoured kill is much better for aircraft in terms of how long you can last in the air now though.

OK - So I've finally bought Battlefield 3 (got the new premium version) after putting it off until now as I've been far too busy this summer, can anyone help me get started or point me towards a good guide for a n00b? I played a fair bit of Battlefield 2 but I wasn't exactly great!

Is anyone else getting terrible FPS? I had to drop from high to medium for a smooth framerate in the last expansion and now in order to get 50-60+ constant in AK I need to put everything on low.

I'm on a 2500K, 8Gb RAM and 2Gb 6950. Surely this isn't right?

Turns out I have no problems whatsoever. I started the game up again today, set everything to High and tweaked a few other settings and it was perfectly smooth at 50-60+ all the time! Weird.

Do you use vsync mate? I have it on but might turn it off to see if it makes any difference to performance.

What do you have your custom settings set to? I have everything on high apart from shadows on medium. No AA or AO either
