iPhone 5 Detail Today

That's funny because Googling the phrase "two times faster" returns 1,410,000 million results.

Ironically the first one is Apple :p

How many of those 1,410,000 results are correct usage though? It's a perfectly valid phrase, when used in the correct scenario (as I described in my first post).

It's hardly a big issue though, just something I noticed while watching the presentation. :)

so who would get tis over the Galaxy SIII?

Apple fans :p

I'm putting in my request at work to replace the Blackberry Curve I have now under the "we need to test it on the network before senior managers start requesting the new model".

Stay tuned :p

Even if it is an A15 core, it's still MEH as ios has always been fast and smooth. Software needs to be refreshed to make a A15 shine.

It's all about app performance! iPhoto should fly. iOS still needs a few more features, JB > WP8/iOS atm :D

The GPU is probably still a 543/544MP2, OMAP 5 performance is very similar.

so who would get tis over the Galaxy SIII?

People who prefer iOS (or have a lot of money invested in the apps). People who prefer a smaller phone, and of course people who need to buy something with an Apple on it. :p

I don't want to comment on camera quality/battery life/etc as it's tough to judge at the moment.

It's what I expected, overall, but still a very nice piece of kit. I wonder how it will feel, being so light (112g )!

What a surprise! :p Pretty much the exact same thing again..........

They will seriously need to do something different with their next iphone, change the design, completely revamp iOS and actually have current gen tech. (no 720P screen, no NFC etc..........the GN has had these 2 things for how long now and it will be the norm for all the new good android phones coming out) otherwise it will definitely start to be the downfall of apple. Many people have jumped from the 4/4s to the GS 3 and have loved it completely and I am pretty sure that they won't be going back to the iphone 5, many more will be jumping to windows 8 phones and android phones until apple actually innovate!

Very disappointing, it really does just seem like they are playing catch up as they are not bringing anything better to the table than whats already out there....despite this the hoards will still buy it yet there are much better alternatives out there.

If you're right, the iP5 sales will be poor. I think we both know it'll still be the best selling single device by quite a large margin though.

It's plenty good enough, but it doesn't get people like us excited.

I can't really think of anything that would have really made it even better. I was hoping Apple would think of something that I couldn't, but what is there, really? NFC isn't really used much at all in reality, and the screen size has to be kept small(er).

Apparently the S3 (at 133g) was too light  :p

Edit: Apparently it was touted by someone doing the event as "The most advanced operating system in any mobile device."

Really?

So, after that rather underwhelming reveal from Apple, what are the alternatives? My contract is up for renewal in just under a month, should I wait and get the Lumia 920 or go for a Samsung Galaxy S3? Or is there another phone coming out fairly soon that would be a better bet than either of those? I'm really not interested in the iPhone 5, I had the 4 and I want a new experience. I really like the look of the Windows phone operating system, so I was leaning towards that.

The current high end options are (best in their fields):

Apple - iPhone 5
Android - Galaxy S 3
Windows - Lumia 920

And the next batch of Android phones will be here in a couple of months, you could wait for those. You could consider the HTC Android offerings too, but you'll likely find them to be inferior to the S3.

Yeah, Phil Schiller said that. While not really accurate, he's hardly going to say - "iOS6, it's not as good as Android but it's not bad, you'll probably like it." :p

No wonder they were/are so keen to sue the pants off Samsung..

New processor etc is pointless because the 4/4s will be able to do anything this phone can, thanks to both running iOS. Ironically after criticising android for fragmentation iDevices are now being strangled by their lack of fragmentation, whilst android moves forwards.

The only thing of passing interest is the better camera, but exactly how much better it is remains to be seen.
