iPhone 5 Detail Today

It's not just for paying for things with you know? I use it between my GN and N7 to transfer webpages, photos, or with friends to do the same or contacts etc, it actually is quite useful.

That's quite true, but the main reason people want it seems to be for the payment side of things, though photo transfer would certainly be more useful for me.

The inclusion of it would be good for other companies, as Apple could help speed things up when it comes to various companies and places adopting the technology - another reason people wanted the iP5 to have it.

I've tried NFCing a photo between my S3 and One X, and it didn't work. Are you sure it can do it? I thought that was what S Beam was for.

Contacts and such work fine.

So the guy who said 'everybody's reaction is meh' is actually just going by people who haven't even used the phone, and probably the android forums? lol

A lot of iPhone user's have been saying meh- as they did with the 4S. It will still be a great phone, it will still break all records, it will make Apple more money than the rest of the smartphone market but why oh why is it on the front of every news site in the world? It happens every year, it's really not that exciting. And guess what- in a weeks time we will have to endure news stories of people queuing outside shops to buy it. And the week after we will have to endure stories of people moaning about the odd deficit.....

I think sbeam is something Samsung did because NFC wasn't that well done pre JB, and could well be proprietary. I've definitely NFCd photos between my GN and N7 or my GN to other GNs

The most disappointing thing of 2012.

Before anyone accuses me of being a fanboy.....I had a 3GS and now have a 4S. Did want a 5 but NO THANK YOU!

They've left the gates wide open for Samsung!

This is the best they can come up with after a year???

Now, having had two years to plot and scheme, Apple's renowned designer Jonathan Ive has replaced the tiny 3.5in (8.9cm) screen with a slightly-less-tiny 4in (10.2cm) screen? Wow. Knock me over with a feather. What do you do with the rest of your time, Jony?

How can you possibly say this:

coming up with some god-awful reply containing terrible counter arguments to every anti iphone or apple post there is.

Its just quite amusing seeing how defensive the fan boys get and play the whole "why do we need NFC? we don't need x features" excuse whereas if apple somehow spun its propaganda rubbish towards how revolutionary NFC is then you'd be jumping all over it.

... and then, in the same post, come out with this god-awful propagandising nonsense?

At the end of the day, the iphone 5 is an apple s2.
POOR
just POOR.

People who live in glass houses...

My GF has a GN, and I had a S3 for awhile and it worked perfectly fine for photos their, I think S beam allows for bigger files to be sent over BT, up to 1GB IIRC.

Have you tried the navigation? I think that looks rather interesting.

They'll have to do a good job of it, as Google Maps is so complete, they couldn't risk removing it without something excellent to replace it.

I've got the GN and S3 here and it isn't working. :(

The S3 requests S Beam be turned on, the the GNex opens up the Play Store...

More of the same really but that has been the smartphone trend for the last couple of years.

To me the whole iphone thing started getting boring from the 4S and now the 5 has just cemented that reputation, whilst its physical beauty is unmatched the actual design is not much different then the previous iphones they had a chance to go for a big refresh but looks like they've missed it.

Some will say the design don't need changing because its beautiful but that's nonsense, a breath of fresh air is needed people get tired of looking at the same thing for years.

Be warned, silly analogy ahead..

You can marry and bed megan fox everynight but I guarantee you after a couple of years you'll be bored and start wondering about lol.

The software whilst being reliable and efficient is more business like and apart from missing many key features that are taken for granted in smartphones doesn't really give you that "wow" factor.

In a new phone you want something that's different from the old, has new features and is groundbreaking.

This is more of the same and tbh it's getting old and boring..

:S I have no idea, but I would take photos (the GN camera sucks so my GF loved to use the S3) tap the device and it would just work, I'm not 100% sure if it could be due to her using a custom rom or seomthing but it always just worked, never really had an issues. Sadly the S3 had to go back to my dad who i stole it from for 1 month so I cant try it again.

I love the design, not too many issues with it their, jsut the OS is getting so bald at this point, and I'm currently living of dreamboard to keep me from killing myself at this point, but yes much of the same. I guess apples take is if it aint broken dont fix it, it is what they do with most of their products.

Also, Phil's take on NFC, wireless charging, and new lighting connector.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/12/apples-phil-schiller-explains-new-lightning-port-doesnt-thi/

I think Wireless charnging right now is more of a gimmick, it doesnt really offer anything amazing, I cant use the device while its charging at all so it is some what of a step down from just pluging a cable in. NFC I was really hoping we could get some apple muscle behind, and the new connector is a kick in the balls for the 8 or so years of iDevice cables I have around xD.

The materials are certainly nicer than the competition but i am not a fan of the elongated shape and iOS is just so dated now.

I personally don't even really like the design of the iphone 4, 4s or the 5 in all honesty.

Too much wasted space on the front, which could be used for having even more screen estate (phone/screen would definitely need to be a bit wider though), I don't like the hard home button at all (one of my biggest dislikes on the GS 3 as well), the back is too plain (although the iphone 5 does look better [black model that is]) and essentially it is just a rectangle slab with rounded corners, which isn't exactly the most comfortable/ergonomically friendly design.

I am sure that the "perceived and build quality" is fantastic though, but give me a one S any day, great curves all round, MAO aluminium uni-body with touch sensitive controls (would prefer on screen buttons like the GN though), which looks and feels great in the hand, followed by the one X, nexus one, galaxy nexus.

The sides of the iphones look nice though as well as the volume buttons and feel great when pressed.

Have always liked having a physical home button myself, dont get why so many people hate them. Its nice having a 'get back to home screen' without having to try to hit an on screen button really. Or a rubbish app implementing it wrong.

Just wee improvement but nothing else, im still using my samsung s2 cos it cool phone and prefer using samsung phone as i dont like any iphone. most apple phone using samsung chipset like exynos chipset for some phones to use it also new samsung s4 due in 2013 so just wait what it look like...
