***The Official OcUK Writers Thread***

Official would be nice :)

Yeah, lets get this thread made official...

Done. Good luck to the writers here and I wish you well for your goals. For what it's worth my offer to read over work still stands - the only caveat being that I'm sometimes quite busy so if there's a delay in response that's probably the reason.

Both my books have five star reviews. Made my day (and no I didn't do the reviews nor did anybody I know!)

I'd really like to know which books, I love to read!

Thanks, my ability to put my stories down on paper is a little lacking at the moment; however I'm sure I will post some of my work at some point! :)

See: http://www.amazon.com/author/mboyce

I have the conclusion to the trilogy nearing its first draft. This is a full on novel (as in it will be more than 40,000 words) hopefully due for release before Christmas, probably November.

The first part isa short story, the second a novella. Enjoy.

Oh and the reviews are for the Amazon.co.uk versions (seemingly it doesn't apply them to other territories)

PS. Wait until Monday as Songs of Remembrance and Redemption is free for two days starting then...

Yeah, sadly, the writey threads in Books, Box Office, Music die off very quickly. The has been the most 'successful' thread I've seen - probably 'cos it's in GD. :)

Thank you everyone...

I'm also looking into doing a beginners writing course at Liverpool university if I can find the £80.00 fee in time, I really want to be successful at writing and be able to write stories that fly off of the shelves with people loving them like the classics etc
As the late great Christopher Hitchens once said, if you want to be a writer, it has to be something that you are, rather than something that you do. If it's something that you must do, that without which you could not live, then you'll be fine. You'll have to go through a lot of down time, barely making enough to live, etc... But your love of your craft will get you through it, the fact that you couldn't be doing anything else.

As for me, I have been writing a sci-fi novel called the Last Sunset for a year or two now, but I come back and write a page or two every few months, so it's going slowly. -.- I plan to get at least a chapter done for NaNoWriMo this year, though. :)

Read some literary biographies, as well. It's always nice to see the human element behind your favourite authors (so long as they are respectful and properly 'literary' biographies, and not just celebrity memoires). I always find it hugely inspiring and motivating to read about the creative process and artistic struggles of my favourite writers. It desacralizes them and takes away the layer of myth that obfuscates the writerly project.

^Thanks LordSplodge, I'll grab a copy on Monday. Naffa, keep at it!

As for me, well I finished writing my second book earlier today. I might do a free promotion on Amazon for OcUKers when it is published. After being drowning in it since February, it is a strange feeling to be once again free to write anything I choose. I know one thing, though: fiction here I come!

I'm currently writing a "bible" for a TV comedy script I plan on writing soon :) (Bible as in character bios, setting, situations, ideas etc.)

I so need to get myself a kindle so I can get some of the works you guys have published....

I'm really enjoying my writing at the moment, I have binned off playing games like Eve on line and Skyrim etc, I'd rather get stuck into my own world!

Only annoying thing is, although I am looking to get into the fantasy genre I had a killer idea for a Sci fi story that I would love to do as well!!!

Think I've been bitten by the bug

Great to hear. By the way, you don't need a kindle to read 'em, just grab the free Amazon kindle app for your smart phone, computer, tablet, etcetera. :)

Thank you for telling me about the free kindle app, I'll take advantage of it for some of the free books that become available, not a huge fan of reading on the computer though...

My mum is a self published writer. her first novel is gaining some momentum. if you want to check it out it's called "laws of contrition". you'll find it on the rainforest site. i will point her towards this thread.

Then go buy a Kindle. They're like £69 now.

Edit: Also my book apparently goes free on American time not UK time... Joy.
