I guess adding this as a cheap second 7850 to your 2gb card is a no go then.
Asymmetric dual card (Hybrid Crossfire) is nice in theory but not in practice. The amount of time they'd have to put into their drivers to get it to work well would be huge.
I imagine they might be willing to put the resources into making it work with Trinity and 6670 but even that's a long shot. Maybe if one of the rumoured next-gen consoles has Hybrid Crossfire...
Of course, 1GB and 2GB 7850 is not Hybrid Crossfire, more like LCD (Lowest Common Denominator) so I think it would mean downgrading the 2GB to 1GB.

Don't forget these cards can clock between stock and 1200Mhz, so it would push even further compared to that anandtech comparison.

which would get a bit pointless as the 1GB cards will run out of VRAM at settings that would push a 1200mhz OC

If people need a card specifically for playing GW2 max settings on a tight budget, this is the ideal card to get. I'm currently playing GW2 on my overclocked 5850, and vram usage is only around 500-600MB on 1920 res with pretty much max settings with Supersampling. Most of the time I'm on 60fps and the common drop is only to around 40fps (even in dynamic events), and dip to 30s only when directing facing volcano particles cloud (which is a very rare sight). With this baby overclocked, it should hold 50-60fps no problem.
