I've just changed my pc case and i only noticed now that my idle temps seem to be higher than they were before.

At the moment I'm getting around 45-50c on idle with stock voltage @ 4ghz; a bit too high surely? I remember them being in the the region of 35-40 before.

I've rechecked everything, used alcohol based TIM cleaner and a microfibre cloth to clean off old thermal paste and applied new arctic silver using the line method.

Motherboard is an Asus P8Z68-V GEN3

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

k thanks guys im trying again now, just cleaned the cpu base and heatsink with the cleaner and fibre cloth, will try again now and keep you updated.

Okay, temps are about 40-42 now, i ran IBT a few times it got to about 60, I guess it's seated properly now? Do I need to wait a bit for the paste to settle in to see lower temps?

I've lowered the Overclock to 3.6 but it still seems a bit too high? Any thoughts?

Put two antec fans on the side blowing at the CPU temps have dropped to around 36-40 now so I think the issue is just airflow.

Anyone have any recommendations of some good fans as these antec 120mm will just be a temporary solution?

Those fans are good an push some air flow as well, ive got them on my case great for air flow.

- High performance 12cm fan in killer VIPER yellow colour
- S-FLOW fan blade design delivers 30% higher airflow
- Super silent with PWM auto speed control
- Hydro Dynamic Bearing extends fan life up to 50,000 hours
- Dimension: 120 X 120 X 25mm
- Fan speed: 600 -1900 RPM
- Max airflow: 83.63 CFM (141.75 m3/h)
- Max static air pressure: 2.98 mm H2O
- Noise level: 6.9 -28.9 dB(A)
- Fan life expectancy: 50,000 hours
- Connector: 4pin PWM

83 on air flow an max dB 28.9 :D

Thanks mate, those look great, although my temps have now gone back up to 45-50c. Is it just possible they've increased due to being in a more isolated case, since IBT is passing all the tests now?

Idle temps have dropped to around 40-45 now. Do you guys think it's worth getting a H60 or an Akasa Venom? I'm a bit wary of these idle temps so I'm just wondering if the H60/Akasa Venom would improve things?

I have the H50 on a 2600K with ~35c idle temps, ~75c max temps on a 4.4ghz overclock, something sounds very wrong with yours.

My H50 is pretty much silent, cooled with Asaka Apache fans. Is the pump connected directly to the PSU?

Got the pump connected to the motherboard header mate. I should be seeing temps under 40c on idle atleast and the fact I can hear the liquid "recharging" so to speak every 10 minutes seems kind of strange.

Buy the Vemon fans, I found the H50 was pretty sensitive with airflow, so that should help.

What case do you have and where is the radiator mounted, which direction is the airflow going through it?

On the other hand it could be just the cooler getting rid of air bubbles sincew it's in a new position, thinking about it mine made a gurgling noise every now and then for a few days before settling down.

I think the first port of call is to try connect the pump to the PSU to make sure it's running at 100%. If that doesn't help I may consider buying the venom fans.

I have a corsair 550D, got the radiator mounted at the rear with the fan taking air in (I've tried outwards too but no difference)
