Asrock Z77 Owners Club

MY new rig

Just built my new rig using a ASRock extreme 6 board, got the cpu watercooled with triple rad, going to give OC it a go this weekend, so il get back to everyone on monday with my results. Looking to try get a nice 4.5-4.8 stable OC.
 
So whats the verdict on the ASRock Z77 Extreme 6? I'm going to be ordering one next week due to it's the only one with a PCI slot for my X-Fi Prelude.

As I've been reading scary outcomes in this thread.
 
Whats the reason the z77 Extreme 6 can't run two PCI-e slots in x16? after reading the online manual. The second lane drops back to x8. These are the kind of limitations I used to read back in 2006/7. :/

Almost reminds me of the days when DDR banks were all filled and they fell back to 333Mhz.

Don't think any z77 motherboards can run 2 graphics cards both in 16x. Makes little to no difference to performance anyway.

I'd like to see a board that doesn't do that without a plx chip. ivy bridge only has 23 PCIe lanes on the CPU, so you'd be doing well to push 32+ to it.

I've got the z77 extreme6 and I couldn't be happier. it consistently wins the 'best board in its price category' on websites like toms and anandtech too.
 
Well I've got a Z77 Extreme 6 and think its a great board. Overclocks my 3770k to 4.5 easily. plenty of options on the board to keep most people happy.
 
like the new fullscreen logo its so not in your face as the last 1 was just a nice green txt saying asrock :) haven't tryed doing anymore ocing
 
Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem that I am having...

I just built a new computer yesterday and I'm using a second hand HDD, and for some reason the Windows XP wont work on that (It starts loading, blue screens then reboots). I have an installation disc for Ubuntu but to be able to use it I need to go into the BIOS to make sure that the first thing to boot is the optical drive. But whenever the screen comes up saying ASRock 555 (I think) and at the bottom it says "press F2 or DEL" to go into the BIOS options, but whenever I press these, the screen just goes blank/black and stays that way. I left it for a while just to see if it was just taking a long time to come up but it just didnt.
So does anyone know how I could get my BIOS settings up then?
 
Just got my first asrock board, the Z77 Extreme 4 with i7 3770K, very nice board indeed :)

This is my first brand new build in a long time. A few years ago I would never have considered getting asrock board but they have really stepped up their game.

Am testing at 4.5Ghz at the moment.
