Armada of British naval power massing in the Gulf as Israel prepares an Iran strike

The goal is destabilization not change. It really doesn't matter who is "in charge" as long as they are unstable and disorganized and can't pose an organized threat (to Israel) beyond minor terrorism.

They tried to destabilize Iran a couple of years ago with all those protests and stuff but it didn't quite take for some reason, so now they will have to bomb them.

forget the 3 Nimitz class carrier groups with enough firepower between them to level Iran, theres a shiny new british 45 in the region ;)



but seriously 1 carrier croup would be a show of force 3 is well ...... i'd imagine something along the lines of waving a bit poo covered stick about
 
The t45 is indeed a serious bit if kit but its also predominantly an aaw vessel so hardly a mighty invasion force on its own. As suggested elsewhere non of this sounds like anything other than "look at our shiny task group isn't it scary"

Theoretically if Iran has nukes and were to deploy one in the middle of the Strait of Hormuz would any of the western naval fleets amassing there survive the resulting tidal wave?

No, they want stable countries which they can work with. The US specifically believes that oil in the Middle East is globally owned as it is too important a resource to be left in the custody the locals (rightly or wrongly). The last thing they want is loose cannons and a ton of militia to contend with. It really does matter who is in charge and it very much matters that they are in charge.

Oil is life for the west.

As for nukes, I still maintain no one that doesn't fear death should be anywhere near having the ability to use a nuclear weapon.

It would be nice if everyone could get along, but there are too many stupid selfish people around.

Lots of piffle in the Telegraph article though, 12 Battleships? How could a professional specialising in 'defence' make such a dramatic error.
 
Hopefully Russia and China stick two fingers up to us and back Iran. Sick of America and her lapdog invading whoever they like when they like. We've ****** up Afghanistan, we've ****** up Iraq and we might as well reveal our real intentions and nuke the whole of the middle east.

That's amusing when you think that Russia was doing almost the same in Afghanistan for 9 years.
