how much do you tip for haircuts?

I don't either. However usually on my last visit to the barbers prior to Xmas I'll tip a tenner so the girls can get either a box of choccies to share or a bottle of vino. Not much I know but it's the thought that counts.

Mines usually £12.50, if he's done a good job and not talked to his mates for ages making it take ages then i give him £15.

I think that's a nice gesture, better than tipping for the sake of it. :)

I used to occasionally give the hairdresser £10 at Christmas and tell him to keep the change, but as the price kept going up, the tips disappeared.

Now I cut my own hair and save myself £9 every 4 - 6 weeks.

I cant beleive you people dont tip. You must have some awful haircuts.

my haircuts are 12 and I tip 3 to make it a nice round 15. Sometimes I tip 5 if I'm in a fanciful mood.

This - you shouldn't have to pay more.

A lot of people say it's because as lowly service people they don't get paid much, but I still fail to see why I should have to make up their pay check. Do only well-off people that can splash their cash get their haircut, or go for meals? And the worst is when you get someone demand it, as is a tip is their given right. A tip is something you give if someone has gone beyond your expectations, if you cut my hair, you've cut my hair, if you did a bad job I would tip you a penny as a sign of disdain.

My wife cuts my hair, so no tip. She's a mobile hairdresser and gets plenty of tips.
