Hi due to recent circumstances i am looking at a new (to me) car.

It has come down to a choice from the following all cars are diesel due to doing 22k a year, cars will be 2009 or newer.

mondeo titanium x 2.0
mondeo titanium x 2.2 estate or hatch but prefer estate.
skoda superb elegance 2.0 140
skoda superb elegance 2.0 170 hatch only for these as estate too new for me to affoard.

Does anyone on the forums have either of these cars or can give any reason to choose one over the other.
cheers for any replies gents.

I prefer the superb but only in high spec - its an excellent car as is the mondeo I would just drive both and see what you prefer

I'd probably sacrifice a bit of power and pick up an estate superb but would go for the beefier mondeo estate

Superb is better built and has a few more features over the Mondeo.

And its hatchback / saloon party trick is a nice novelty.

You do feel like an old man walking up to one in the carpark compared to the Mondeo.

Looking at the superb it does look like a very nice car with lots of options. I was very impressed with one we had in Prague, but FiL had a mondeo as a company car and was also very nice tO drive, that's why I am torn.

I always thought the titanium X was well specced and pretty much had everything like leather heated seats, parking sensors, auto everything etc. What the hell does the superb get in addition?

I drove a Superb recently. It was in the top spec trim with nav, leather etc.
Inside it's just a lovely place to be but my main issue was that it had no sense of occasion. The Mondeo, despite being of poorer build quality, was more fun inside.

Maybe I just don't get minimalist design.

I have an 07 Titanium X.

I drove a 59 plate Superb.

Main difference (what the superb has over the mondeo) :
Sat Nav (with DVD and HDD storage) (another optional extra on the mondeo)
Memory Seats (another optional extra on the mondeo)
Auto Folding side mirrors when you hold down lock
Auto opening side mirrors when you start the car
Umbrella in the rear passenger side door

So that's an end of production Mk3 Mondeo rather than a Mk4 Mondeo? The Mk4 Titanium X is pretty much on par with the Superb for most things, both of them will of course depend on what options were fitted. I certainly don't think the umbrella is available for the Mondeo, but they can have the rest.

Thats not standard kit on the superb is it tho. The superb isnt a particularly cheap car, but it does offer silly levels of space. Looks ****ing ugly as the hatch/saloon tho, estate is much better.

True the mondeo is a much nicer looking car but then again i have owned a ford scorpio so thats not the type of thing to deter me (mantlepiece > fire).
If anyone has a mondeo with the a/c seasts do they work or are they a gimmick.

My Mondeo has all those bar the umbrella, but has a sunroof instead so I'm not sure what your point is. Both cars can be spec'ed with similar extras so in that sense, I don't think either has anything over the other.

My last 2 motors have been balck Mondeo Titanium X's - really rate them as a solid. gadgetriffic family car.

I am torn between a 3rd black Mondeo Titanium X or a TS2 Mazda 6.

No, mine is a MK4 not MK3.

Also the Converse + display is highly annoying at night. The Superbs dot matrix display is better.

Also i am not sure how many people would actually have the memory seats as an optional extra on the Mondeo.

Titanium X and Ts2?

Comparable is Titanium X and Mazda 6 Sport.

I would say a Ts2 is comparable to a Zetec trim.

You can lower the brightness or change the colour. It's superior to anything I've seen in my opinion.
