Halo 4 is the next blockbuster installment in the iconic franchise that’s shaped entertainment history and defined a decade of gaming. Set almost five years after the events of Halo 3, Halo 4 takes the series in a bold new direction and sets the stage for an epic new sci-fi saga, in which the Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe..
In addition to a rich story and campaign, Halo 4 introduces a groundbreaking new multiplayer offering, called "Halo Infinity", that builds off the franchise's rich multiplayer history and promises to continue to innovate and redefine the way people think about storytelling and multiplayer experiences.

The Reclaimer Saga Begins: Experience the dawn of an epic new Halo adventure, solo or split screen with up to three friends.
Go Beyond the Story: Halo 4's Infinity Multiplayer features a vastly expanded suite of multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, armour abilities, a new loadout and Spartan IV player progression system.
Spartan Ops: Extend your campaign experience in a massive-scale adventure that builds upon the Halo 4 campaign. Receive a weekly series of cinematic episodes on Xbox LIVE followed by new gameplay missions, played solo or cooperatively with up to three friends.

Now the most important question, which is the best pre-order armour skin!

I know several of the relevant retailers supplying which skin, but not sure if I am allowed to mention?

Well I've just placed my pre-order, choice of supplier was dictated by the skin I wanted - was a tough call between Raptor or Web. Ultimately I went for Raptor as I like the sharper look on the arms and shoulders :D

Looking forward to Borderlands 2 which will keep me occupied until Halo 4 :p

Just booked a week off work for this :o. Always said it's something I would never do but I've somehow got to September with 22 days of holiday to use!
Anyway, can't wait for this. Halo & Uncharted are about the only games that get my attention nowadays, just on a whole other level imo.

Anyone spotted a good Limited Edition pre-order? HMV is 59.99 but I don't know what they're like for delivery on launch day?

Really looking forward to this. I tend to just buy it from the cheapest supermarket on/ after release day. Not bothered about skins etc.

I hope they can recapture the fun and competitive elements from halo 2/3. Im all for innovation and new elements but the basics (which had nothing wrong with them in 2/3 shouldnt be changed). Hate the armor lock/ jetpack with a passion.

I'm undecided. I didn't really dig Halo 2 + 3, something about them just bored me. However I rate Halo and Reach as two really fantastic single player games. The problem is, since it's a Halo game, it will nearly certainly recieve rave reviews. How will I be able to tell if it's a Halo/Reach or a 2/3? D:

Couldn't give a flying monkies about the multiplayer though!

It'll be extremely interesting to see a Halo game made by a different developer to Bungie. The series need a breath of fresh air. I'm not as interested in the competitive multiplayer as I used to be - I'm a campaign guy. The campaign in this looks suitably epic so far.
The game also appears to be the technical tour de force I've always expected of Halo games. After 1 and 2 I was really hoping for 3 and Reach to knock it out of the park technically but left disappointed.

For me the biggest surprise is that they didn't hold on to this for the 720's launch. It would have helped massively to kick start the console, but now it seems we will have to wait a while for 5. At least they have a solid foundation to start on, tech wise.

Maybe that's the plan. They end 4 in such a way that you're desperate to play number 5. Oops. You'll have to buy our new console to do it.

Worked for Halo 2 and the 360 :)

To be fair to Bungie, firstly the xbox was the most powerful console on the market by quite a margin. As a result of that it gave them plenty of freedom to make a very good looking game whilst also allowing for things like split screen. However now the 360 and PS3 are, give or take, pretty much on par. Combine that with Sony rarely doing split screen (and if they do, it's generally 2-player only like killzone 3), this has given the PS3 developed games a lot more room to push for eye candy. As Bungie opted for 4 player splitscreen it limited what they could do with the graphics to an extent.

It hasn't got anything to do with PS3. There are far better looking games on the 360 that were out long before Halo 3 and even Reach. Halo 4 itself is proof that the console is capable of doing better than previous games. It's got the same splitscreen modes.

Everyone knows the console can do much better than this, as shown by hundreds of other games and Halo 4 itself.

They've confirmed ages ago that Halo 4 is part of a new trilogy, with 5 and 6 on 720.

I said PS3 as that's where a huge amount of the comparisons lay, Uncharted being one of the big names for graphics I'll throw out there. They are also a excellent example of a development company that are reluctant to include splitscreen, Warhawk (which was fugly) and Resistance 1 (also fugly) being the only two that spring to mind.

I'm sorry but i cannot think of a single game, 360 or ps3, that has 4 player split screen coop and has better graphics than Halo Reach.

And obviously Halo 4 would look better than it, it's a later game in the consoles life cycle, every console in history displays a steady improvement in graphical quality as time passes. Reach looked a hell of a lot better than Halo 3 for example.

The point I was attempting to make is that gone are the days of the original Xbox, where it was a graphical powerhouse in comparison to the competition. As a result of the closer capabilities of the consoles, Halo is never going to have that massive an improvement in quality over other games, especially when it continues to cater to 4 player split screen. Look at the Xbox, there were several games with better graphics than Halo as they didn't offer splitscreen (Ninja Gaiden, Chronicles of Riddick, Fahrenheit, Oddworld: Strangers Wrath and PGR2 spring to mind).
