Sleeping Dogs performance

That's what you said, im simply providing you with a video that shows it is smooth.

I'm not really that interested though to be fair mate. 37 FPS ain't smooth in my eyes.

In fact I'm an FPS snob nowadays :D and can feel anything under 50. In GW2 it's the same.

You're happy with it. Fine. :)

You must have been quite interested or you wouldn't have brought it up, followed by telling me that no matter if im using a 7970 or 680 it is not smooth at 37 fps...but ok.

Nope, no real interest.

That comment has already been explained and if it was misplaced then that is down to your ambiguity by saying "it's smooth on the 7970" which implicitly says it isn't on other cards to which I responded that "37 FPS = 37 FPS" and theoretically it doesn't make a difference which card the 37 FPS is on. An unambiguous term would have been "it's smooth for me".

This just boils down to what FPS you find acceptable and what you don't. That's all. You just have a far lower sensitivity to low FPS than I do and prefer to run at lower FPS and max IQ rather than higher FPS and slightly compromised IQ.

It's a choice that is purely your own. I'm not saying you have to change.

No you assumed (incorrectly as usual) that i was saying it wouldn't be smooth on other cards, yours im guessing seeing as you mentioned a 680.

I was talking about my card, my overclock and my experience playing the game.

I don't talk about other peoples cards and experiences. I have no idea what their experience will be like so i don't comment. I can only comment on what happens with my setup.

Maybe you should stop assuming that by me saying i find it runs smoothly on my card = it wont run smoothly on your card.

Here's the video btw, as you can see even with losing fps due to recording footage it turns in to a real slide show on extreme.

Your using MSI AB to record, the worst thing you could do, use FRAPS for video recording, the FPS hit is minimal, much less than on MSI AB and the quality is also much better.

@Matt:

The problem with ambiguity is that it makes people say things they wouldn't have said had you been clear what you meant in the first place.

Well I recorded BF3 once FRAPS capped to 30 FPS but when I compressed and uploaded to Youtube it looked smooth as well. It just doesn't really prove anything at all.

I'll upload to show you:

Not sure why you've gone all personal though - little bit weird.

Who? i'm just stating my own findings :)

Have a look at the difference between BF3 Hunting and OCF BF3.

BF3 Hunting i got big FPS drops, it's not smooth and the quality is not good, OCF BF3 was done on FRAPS, much much improvement :)

I've not gone personal rusty unlike you calling me stupid yesterday.

Lets leave it at that for now and get back on topic.

There ya go - capped to 30 FPS in FRAPS but looks smooth as a baby's bottom :D.

LOL.... sneaking around the back passage on Metro, I'm partial to doing that myself, watching them all go HUH? WTF?!?!?!?! catching the snipers out round there.... what fun..... :D

Rusty, why is it in every thread you're always nitpicking and being pedantic but then you either change your words or go back on your statement? The only arguments I've seen in threads the last couple of months involve you and any other random person, it can't be a coincidence really.

Really, where have I changed my words or gone back on my statement? I only really argue with people when they talk rubbish regarding VRAM. Everything else is standard graphics card forum natter. If you don't like it, there's nothing stopping you putting me on ignore. You know rather than doing exactly what you're saying I'm doing... D'oh.

There is a large difference between calling somebody stupid and saying they're being stupid :D.

Yeah, excellent for ending the map nice and quickly and moving on to something a bit more fun if you get them camped all the way back :D.

Meh.. most of us argue from time to time. It's part of being passionate enthusiasts.

In the end lets all just try and get along. for the sake of the Kids :D

No worries mate - you raised a valid point anyway which I've responded to in my edit.

Changed to accommodate your new view.

You just said anything around 30fps can't be smooth but yet you say the 30fps FRAPS video is smooth, but I forgot you're clearly right all of the time

Eh?

I responded to his post in my edit as I didn't answer it first time round when I pointed out he had responded to a post which wasn't aimed at him.

No 30 FPS isn't smooth - the point of the video was to show that by recording and compressing it can be made to look smooth and as such recording a benchmark run doesn't show anything.

Yes?

You just messed up. Time to apologise.

You just said 30fps = 30fps, why would it matter if it's on a game or in a video?

Only just bought a 670, didn't think I would be turning down graphics settings just yet!!

When it comes to Super Sampling AA its been crippling high end cards for as long as I remember.

AMD have worked with the devs to leverage their superiority when it comes to DP compute over NV's high end cards which basically are naff at it....

I don't know enough about video editing to know why it does it but when I was recording the above Youtube video it was horrendous. Locked at 30 FPS is not for me.

However, when I compressed it and uploaded it to Youtube it looked smooth, no?

It's always been the same - even back when I used to record our kill videos in World of Warcraft. As I say - no idea why but then they're compressed and uploaded what was a poor framerate while recording looks remarkably smoother when compressed.

I capped it at 30 FPS in that video to basically save hard drive space as the more frames you record the more space it takes. It just serves a purpose to illustrate this particular point.
