Sleeping Dogs performance

I'll just play on Extreme unless i start to notice not so smooth gameplay.. i think its gona happen when driving fast as i've been watching some walkthroughs on youtube with an xbox player and its looks like it gets pretty hectic further into the missions. Right now i only see a slight difference in image quality between High and Extreme but then its been all night time for me so far :)

Btw i dont wana end up getting into any argument over this.. i just wana be honest about it and keep it real :p

By all means, no reason for an argument :)
If it is smooth to you on extreme, then that's great- it all comes down to the individual in terms of how sensitive you are to framerates. Everyone has their own personal threshold for minimum framerates. Often it comes down to a tradeoff between graphics quality and smoothness, in this case I had to sacrifice a little visual quality in order to get smooth gameplay for me personally, but others like yourself are able to get the maximum quality and still maintain smooth gameplay.
In the same way, most people can't tell the difference between a 60 Hz monitor and a 120 Hz monitor, but some people who are more sensitive to framerates are able to tell the difference. Linus did a video on 60 vs 120 Hz monitors and whether the difference can be seen.

Yup.. and that guy didnt really have a clue :)

Yeah, the gamer he brought in couldn't tell at all, whereas when Linus did another video seeing if he could tell the difference he got all 5 correct, and it only took him a few seconds to decide each time. Just shows that it really is down to the individual, for some a 120 Hz monitor is worth it, but for others it would just be a waste of money.

Well i think i need to back Matt up on this one.. just got the Dogs this morning and while playing on Extreme Preset and dipping down to.. yes.. 37fps on my overclocked 7950.. it actually does look and feel smoother than what 37fps would feel like in BF3.

Honestly mate i duno what it is.. maybe its something to do with the AMD cards that make it run smoother at lower fps but im not kidding when i say that when i go down to around the 37fps mark it still runs smooth.

Anyway i havnt really got too much into it yet and only played about half hour or so into it so maybe things will change once i start driving vehicles.. we'll see what happens :)

Respect.

It really is smooth, it feels the same regardless if its 37fps or 60 fps, you really cannot tell the difference at all. (or should i say can't, and i consider myself sensitive to low frames generally)

Its a beautiful game on extreme it really is.

The lighting effects, the colours, it all adds to the superb graphics.

This is the graphically beautful game that GTA should have been.

The karaoke is kinda cool too, though i feel slightly embarrassed saying this in public.

I'll end my post with this, "a man who never eats pork buns is never a whole man". :D

GTA 4 was.. 4 years ago. But lets hope GTA 5 gives us at least Sleeping Dogs image quality along with the usual awesome GTA gameplay.. i'll be happy with that :)

Just been mucking about with the demo on my laptop (i7 2670QM / GT635m @ stock (675/1350/1800) / 1600x900) and it runs perfectly fine at whatever it determines to be "medium quality". Framerates were between 36 and 60FPS - oddly down to 36FPS in the cut scenes but higher in game.

Game was perfectly playable.

I play with vsync on and benchmarking with it gives me the same average of 59fps on normal and high AA. Lower minimums on high though.

I just tried the demo of this game.....quite tempted to buy it.

I have gtx 680 sli, so i put it all to extreme and it played absolutely fine. But gpu my temps were the wrong side of 80'c :( (watercooling this weekend so may not be too bad)

It really does push your system this game eh?

Pushes my 7970 up to 80c when heavily overclocked. Battlefield 3 pushes it to 73-76c depending on the map.

No clocking on mine yet.

BF3 i usually see around 71-75 on top card and 64ish on the bottom card.

It seems 80'c is where the fans really start to make themselves heard.

Sounds about right. Extreme provides extreme levels of AA that look superb but they really make your gpu earn its corn.

I use it (sleeping dogs extreme) as a stability test now for gpu overclocks.

How are you guys benchmarking this game? Which program do i need to get those results in above posts in this thread? :)

I don't usually use extreme AA and i usually have motion blur off too.

All my components are standard clock speeds for now.
