MILLIONAIRE Tory Cabinet minister refers to police as " plebs " - Police fabricate evidence

Having myself had a few face to face run-ins with government ministers (not just tories), I can safely say that this is not an isolated case. And funnily enough they all seem to stem from the induviduals concerened not following basic protocol which everyone else is expected to follow.

I get abuse far worse than that from members of the public on an almost daily basis however they are generally unemployed, police hating career criminals and its like water off a ducks back to me.

He holds a job in a position of trust and authority which is heavily in the public eye. He should be setting an example. I'm sure if a cop had spoken to him in the same manner said cop would be strung up and out a job. He should go.

Not particularly, I think you'll find that there are cuts happening across all departments.

With police pay, pension and conditions being hit harder than most. This because they know there are no industrial rights to fall back on. I accept that cuts are a necessity but what I don't accept are deeper cuts to pay and pensions compared to, for example, the fire service based on a crafty tactic of knowing police have their hands tied to fight it.

The federation and negotiating board offered the government an alternative that equalled the savings they wanted but it was rejected outright. Check out The Police Federation website and you'll see how unfair.

Because he's an asshat and had no regard for the person asking him to take an alternate route.

His choice of words are contested but if true were inexcusable, we also have to take into account what state of mind he was in. It's a highly stressful position especially in a coalition. With him previously being allowed to travel out of the same gate three times that day what changed for the fourth time? A different officer? Perhaps these tow have had altercations before and don't much care for each other. Perhaps this officer was having a bad day too and lacked the thought of just holding the gate open for him to cycle through.

Whatever it is, I think it's been blown way out of proportion.

All politicians are rich posh boys, there's very few Mps who could even be considered lay persons they are mostly Oxbridge toffs no matter what party

Is the inside of Downing Street past the security gate a public place ? It's a grey area for a sec 5 arrest or report for summons but I will be stood corrected if any Met on here coulees shed some light.

Stupid day and age we live in where the word pleb is considered a sack worthy offense by common plebs. Oh hi im a pleb! And im not offended.

Politicians should lead by example though. Security gates at Downing Street don't get opened for a minor cabinet minister on a push bike. The cop was absolutely right to refuse.

It isn't just the cuts you are dealing with. Dowie and Hurfdurf should have a look at the Winsor Report I and II. Cuts are one thing but some of that is just mental.
