Samsung Galaxy S3 Or iPhone 5?

Go into a phone shop and try out the higher end phones. Also I wouldn't recommend limiting yourself to just those two and check out phones like the One X too. I really don't think you're going to notice the performance difference between many of the top end phones to be honest so don't just go for the one with the highest numbers next to it's processor :p.

i upgraded with 02 last saturday
i got an s3 as i wanted a change from ios as ive had iphones for the last 4 years
had it a week, played with it and liked it a lot. but the s3 felt cheap and as if it could break very easily, i also couldnt see it lasting 24 months, so i took it back and got IP5.

Im glad I got the IP5 now

Do you use your phone as a stand in hammer or something?

IP5 is just as likely to break as an S3, the weakest part of both is the screen, neither will take more abuse than the other.

Look after it, if you do not then buy something which WILL last 24 months of your unnatural abuse, like a 3310.

It's interesting as now between those two its really a choice of what you prefer either iOS or DROID, or at least Samsungs version of it.

We're mostly blokes in here. Bigger hands and all that, opens you up for larger handsets, yet an S3 will still fit into a shirt pocket or back jeans pocket.

If your music collection is already on iTunes, then you might want to use iOS as I believe it's difficult to transfer the library out into normal a Explorer file system.

iOS "just works" with very little set-up required.

Android is for the tinks, and that accounts for most of this web site's demographic. Familiar with replacing Explorer with Litestep? No problemo. You can also replace the shell on Android (they're called launchers), which opens your phone up to themes, keyboard styles, SMS styles, desktop behaviour etc. Most Android phones will also let you use a larger mAh battery, keep spares as they're removable and you also have removable storage.

Back to iOS, I believe that the newer iPhones have a much higher screen DPI than the current Androids.

As others have said - try both. Specs wise both are awesome so really just comes down to iOS or Android which is an argument that's very specific to the user.

Every specs S3 has beats the iPhone 5?

I'v tried Android OS before but not iOS

I want the best phone with my money

You need to define "best".

To me the "best" is a device that gives me freedom to do whatever I want and offer lots of functionality.

To others "best" means a device that is (to their eye) the prettiest looking object/design.

What sim card does the S3 uses? Also using a 64GB Class 10 SD card will improve loading performances?

It uses a micro sim, loading times are as fast as they get really, the SD card wont change that. People use class 10 for the faster transfer speeds when moving large amounts of data to your SD card.

also all app data is stored on the internal storage. External speeds will have no bearings on app performance.

Android is for the tinks, and that accounts for most of this web site's demographic.

My 65+ year old Nan uses an S3 and got to grips with it almost instantly, I spent less than an hour or 2 with her walking her through the basics.

She Whatsapps, Facebooks and browses the net off it along with all the other basic phone features.

Android let's you tinker if you want to, you by no means HAVE to.

Borrowed an iphone 4 for a week and although i loved using it, it had far too many drawbacks for me. Went with an S3 as i needed the ability to swap batteries out and really wouldn't go for anything that lacked SD card support. I have not regretted my decision, although i do find that i preferred the iphone's dimensions. I use android in a similar way as you'd use iOS, with little in the way of widgets. I use my phone as a phone / pda anyhow. Don't see the point in faffing with rooting, changing roms or downloading hundreds of apps. I just use the phone for email, calender, browsing, maps, sms and phone. I would say the the S3 is as big as i could tolerate and it's curvy design does make it a bit "soap" like to keep hold of. The more angular edges on the iphone make it easier to keep hold of and it's size is comfortable in my hand. I find i prefer the android interface with the two touch buttons either side of the home button. (find that i keep tapping these areas on the iphone now expecting things to happen)

Build quality wise, the iphone may use more exotic materials than the samsung, but the samsung was built for purpose using sensible materials. (price vs performance) Neither would fare too well if you dropped them 4ft or so onto the floor whilst unprotected. I've dropped my S3 once from about 5ft in a multi-story and as it was protected in it's leather case, you'd never know as there isn't a mark on the phone. (or the case for that matter as it landed flat on the belt clip) My dad has dropped his iphone quite a few times and hasn't damaged it as he has the same brand case as me.

TBH, if apple had released the iphone with a removable battery and microSD slot i probably would have bought one. (provided it wasn't excessively expensive) The new iphone is what i consider to be excessively expensive, as it's £200 more than my S3 cost. (and to my eyes, it sure as hell doesn't offer it's moneys worth, and i am not vain enough to buy a device purely for it's looks, brand or to wear it as a fashion accessory)

Agreed, my folks recently got an HTC something or other. In 5 minutes I showed them basic use and how to turn on/off gps, bluetooth. wifi and they are fine with it.

It completely depends on your uses. I like the larger screen because I browse on my phone a lot. And I also watch films/tv shows on it. The Iphone is a quality bit of kit. But the S3 is equally good in my eyes.

Both good phones. The IPhone, you buy it and use it, apps are very good but very little customisation from standard, neat and compact size. S3 has more free apps, ROM can be modified if you feel the need, larger screen but might be too big for your hand/pocket/bag. You can add memory with the S3 and also buy spare batteries.

Just have a good look at both and make your mind up.
