Well..

That is a bit of a sweeping statement I must admit. Its faster than the 4S, it looks nicer in my opinion and the screen is finally large enough to curve my need to get an S3 however it has one MASSIVE flaw.

I purchased the black as I thought it looked simply amazing! I have however noticed on thing and reports have been made on it numerous times already. The issue in question is that the phone is simply made of chalk!

Im dreading putting it down, dreading forgetting its in my pocket and dropping my keys in for fear of it getting scratched to hell!

Long story short... wish I had got the white as these things are far less noticeable on bare metal. :(

Way to speed £729.99 eh!

For those of you who have purchased the phone, what's your thoughts on the matter?

I made a very small mark on mine (not noticeable if you weren't aware of it) by just brushing against the metal bits next to your pockets on your jeans. The lightest contact and it marked it, I was pretty shocked at just how easy it was

And you're right, I'm terrified of what it will look like in a few months if I treat it the same way as my 4S. That's not to say I was rough with my 4S, I still was extremely careful with it, but putting it down or putting it in my pocket wasn't a scary experience like it is with the 5 :(

Oh jeez this sounds like it's going to be a nightmare to protect :( I don't like using cases - but I'm actually considering one now :p

Honestly, when I took it out of the box I thought the same. But it's not that easy to damage. Just don't go throwing it and you'll be fine.

I have dropped every iteration of iPhone accidently at least once... You might actually see me cry when I drop my iPhone 5 the first time :p

I dropped mine yesterday (black) between a cupboard and a bed, and absolutely crapped myself as it clattered between both a few times from a height of about 5 ft. Luckily there wasn't a mark on it! Was quite surprised after all the reports of the coating coming off so easily.

Mine does have a slight creak near the bottom left had corner though, but I only notice it when I'm using a cloth to clean it. Still disappointing and the QA on this phone seems to have gone walkabouts. Perhaps they were on holiday with the Apple Maps developers...

I changed mine from black to white after seeing the reports. It's also in a case, for peace of mind.

Did you use it or did you change it before it arrived??

Im going to take mine in to apple, and cause a scene. Its the only way they react to anything. Cause a scene, get a white handset as direct replacement for the black.

Thatll ease my mind a little I think.

No need to - as far as I know, Apple have a 14 day no-questions returns guarantee. Just go in and say I fancy the white one and they should swap it over no problem :p

That's never been my experience with Apple and I've been in plenty of times - phones, mbp & plenty of earphones (3rd party). Shame that's your experience :/

I really rate the invisible shield, had them on all my iPhones, one thing I find annoying though is they absorb colour.

What I mean by that is, I have a white iPhone 4s fully covered, now on the front I can see a blue cast within the screen protector which had come from my jeans pocket, so obviously it absorbed the dye,

Also in my iPad 2, the screen protector has started to have black marks in it where the smart case closes, again absorbing the colour,

If you can live with that, which I can your device will be scuff/scratch free ;-)
