damn, was just about to make a post on this myself. actual prices will probably be lower, but yeah with the current cashback offer 830 is impossible to beat
well beta-testers...errr....early adopters always pay a premium (money-wise and probably data-wise too...lol)
What would be the eventual improvements. The current ones I have are about 525mb read and 490write in benchs with around 80000iops. Actually omg they doubles the iops on write and the power comsumption is absolutely tiny compared lol like 0.2w vs 0.06w

Option 1: Post in CS and ask if they'll refund you the difference. If you don't get an answer before the delivery, or get told no, then consider option 2.
Option 2: Refuse delivery, wait for it to be returned to OcUK, ask for a refund and in the meantime order another one.
Option 3: It's only £3, live with it.

The samsung has been cheap for like, 4-5 months now probably, so its hardly cheap because of that also, the 840 is faster in benchmarks... barely, real world performance you won't even slightly notice it. Sure the price will come down eventually but anyone that spends 50% more on the same capacity on the new version is mental.
Outside of async memory versions of drives which do seem to suffer from much more severe slowdown as they fill up, you can barely tell the difference between any of the drives available in the past 2 years. Cheapest 256gb should get your money.
