GTR or Spec R or Type R?

I refer to you to my previous post about most peoples driving capabilities :o

What?. If people can afford to buy and run an evo their going to give it a hoon now and again, i think people, anyone who drives a "fast" car soon learns their motor.

Most people dont buy an evo to potter around in.

If said evo driver couldnt even shift up quicker then a small ecobox i think something is terribly wrong with his health.

R32 would be my choice, hands down. All those years of using the Calsonic Skyline in Gran Turismo... They look gorgeous.

As for the S15, they looks really nice too, but a mate of mine who has had one said his (stock one) broke loose on the m-way when he gave it a bit :p They do seem like they want to slide, a lot. Said mate also had a 600bhp R32 before the S15, and in his words, 'It was a bit silly'. Eventually sold it after 6 months :D I can see why too, considering his stories of overtaking someone on a B-road and before he realised, he was doing well, well over a ton.

There's quite a few posters on here who have owned/do own S14s - AFAIK they're available for quite a lot less money, but finding a good condition standard example may be a difficult task.

Doesn't have to be a standard example, I would choose a standard one over a modified if they were same condition, history, miles etc

But if the slightly modded one makes sense then I'm all for it.

I agree, the R32 is a beaut!
I could always just go on some DWYB track days to get used to the handling before I open her up fully on public roads.

Phil, is that your s14 in your sig?

I know an R32, with her old age, will take some decent amount of modifying to get close to what she once was.
But I'm prepared to do that if it brings a lot of joyful miles down A and B roads.
Still very tempted to get the newer S15 with little work will be similar in power to a standard R32...If you want to start a debate if they will be similar performance figures, be my guest ;)

The only thing that lets the 15 down over the gtr is the pathetic brakes that come standard, theres a guy called dan who owns a buisness on sxoc who works with 200sx brakes and offers a good selection of upgrades depending on your budget.

Like most jap imports make sure if you do get one to treat the underside, full underseal will do you a world of good in the long run.

Check the sills as these can rot horribly and is a very common failure.

Check the engine has no vvt rattle (£400 fix if it does)
Make sure the spray bars are in good nic. (the little hole the oil comes out of has a tendancy to get blocked with dirty oil and cause bottom end failure so 6000/1year oil changes with good brand oil is a must)

If you do go the modding route, some standard 15 bits will bring abit of cash your way, s15 injectors are worth roughly £90, standard s15 turbo £200, people also go wild for s15 seats/steering wheel.

Sounds like your mates s15 had its tracking off, my 14 used to always want to slide out at 70-80 until i got my tracking done.
My friend 15 is solid also on motorway runs.
Suprised he didnt look into it before selling.

That's nonsense anyway because you can do things in an Evo that would get you killed in any other car, want to bury the throttle mid roundabout in the wet? No problem. Want to take that sharp corner at 100mph? Yes sir. You don't really need much talent to drive an Evo quick at all, even the most clobberfisted Neanderthal could hustle an Evo around B roads quicker than most cars.

Erm, whats that got to do with what i said?.

I was basically saying to lose to a small hatchback in an evo would be pretty hard to do, like you just said....

It was the GTR he sold after 6 months, sorry if that wasn't clear. But yeah, I think he did get the tracking done, but he sold the S15 anyway a year go. Drives a BMW F10 now haha.

Back on topic now I see

Based on that, you don't want the s2000 if you have listed it with those two other cars.

I know nothing about the skyline bar eye watering running costs, but the s15 appeals to me. I believe there is a type r version of it that is supposedly pretty good out of the box?

Yeah I know, I was agreeing with you saying that Dave_beast's comment was rubbish because they are easy to drive.

Since when has the Ibiza weighed only 1000kg? The Cupra appears to be closer to 1150kg. This is 173bhp/tonne if it has 200bhp.

Please stop using facts to point out how dumb people are Fox, I'm pretty sure this is against the rules, you should know better, if someone on here wants to claim their Citroen hatchback can bother Evos and fudge the numbers to the extent where they are missing off 200kg of weight then they should be free to do so.

Mods?

Theres a yellow one knocking about, do not buy it. Its been on sxoc that its been rolled but no mention of that in adverts.
The guy who repaired it sold it for £7k, guy who bought it had it advertised next week for £11k with no mention of accident damage.

When you go to look at cars take a torch and make sure to get under it, have a good poke around.
My friends needed a new subframe within a month after he got his, was rotted to hell and had a fresh MOT.

He actually reported the garage to the misestry but after the reMot with the vosa guy nothing happened.

S15 brakes are identical to bnr32, and pretty sure its a lighter
car.

Standard car is 1100kgs, but mine is lightened quite a bit.

Quantify it then please with an itemised list of all this weight loss. That would stop everyone questioning you ;)

Also are you taking the standard weight as laden with fuel, with a driver in???? Now I'm being picky :D

A small remapped hatch will feel quick due to turbo rush Lolz, but in reality, you are just, in such a totally different league to even standard Eva's and m3's that you can't even comprehend how stupid this argument is.

Custom rolling road remap, hybrid turbo, WRC HPFP and there's no "turbo rush" the power is linear, which is how it's supposed to be.

I don't have a DS3R, I have at least 20 more bhp and at least 35 more lb/ft, and mine is lighter with shorter gearing.

lol at this.

I bothered an evo once. And I have 338BHP, oooOOOoooo

Evo mobility scooter? 1458kg on your Supra was a handicap :p

even the most clobberfisted Neanderthal could hustle an Evo around B roads quicker than most cars.

Well Jewish and I both know someone who has one, thinks it's the worlds fastest car, but got obliterated by hot hatches ;)

(Evo's)they are easy to drive.

Not everyone can drive, hence your comment is rubbish lol

if someone on here wants to claim their Citroen hatchback can bother Evos

It happened, try your hardest to deal with it, then i'm sure you will get over it
