PC Gaming Future Advice and Best games

I have recently built the most expensive PC I have ever owned I want to get my moneys worth. I have owned gaming pcs for many years and current and previous console and I think I want to remove all consoles from my life. I still own a XBOX 360 with some top games like BF3 and Max Payne 3 and I have purchased them again on my new PC for the "better" experience. I would like some genuine input on the best path for me to take and without rants about consoles or PCs.

My specs are pretty good, 3930K with a 680 and will be going SLI and 2 more monitors for 3D surround so that is always going to graphically better than any console for my FPS and RTS games but can I fit my 3rd person & sports/driving games into 1 gaming experience and just remove my 360 from my life.

I don't want to hear how pc gaming is better or console is better as we all know PC gaming is far superior to any console and a next gen PS4 or XBOX720 wont even come close to my current PC. What I do want to know is what exclusives are coming that will take advantage of my pc, what games I should already own on my PC and what games I should play on my console (if any).

I have also heard PC gaming is making a come back and 2012/2013 will be the year for PC gamers which I hope is good news after spending over £3K on a PC I want to be assured I made the right choice. Its hard to say I want input if you remove the other advantages of a PC so say a top spec laptop for all my computing needs and a console or my current PC for everything. Which will offer the best experience and most cost effective as despite the high premium I spent I could have built a much better PC for less which would last 2-3 generations of consoles so its still cost effective especially with the discount on games compared to console.

Its hard to approach this subject without a pointless debate starting and I could be repeating myself here but I have a top gaming PC now and want advice on games I should have or keep an eye out for release dates and if I should go trade in my console+games for some more pc games or keep it for Fifa and other games.

Also what exclusives are coming & is pc making a come back.

I am talking about a PC now, I maye of mislead with my typing trying to get my point across but basically Xbox 360 is now what 7 years old or even more, my PC hasnt had its 1st birthday and I am pretty sure it will be still going strong when a new console is launched in 2013 or beyond.

I am not expecting my PC to last 20 years. In short I am simply asking will I still need my 360 and also will my PC still be going strong with the next gen or am I always going to need a console.

Plus as a bonus I would like some game recommendations.

basically it wont

next year in november time the new xbox will launch with the new cod which is rumored to use the unreal4 engine

unreal 4 engine 680 gtx = 30 fps :p

there isnt any games at moment other than bf3 that push pcs really and wont be until next year when like said unreal4 engine is out.

so sli 680 gtx will probably net you 60 fps constant on that

console will run it at 30 fps at 720

so there you go pay 300-400 for console or 2000 grand for pc and 60 fps

i wont upgrade my graphics card until unreal drops as there is no point.

your pc will be good for two to 3 years tops. it wont outlast the next gen xbox or ps . they last between 5-10 years.

no pc will last 3 generations on consoles, consoles life expectancy is around 10year cycles ps2/3 so you want a pc that will last 20-30 years? yer ok good luck.

gamertailers go there look at trailers find games you like the look of.

or

True. Getting a high-end graphics card to last 2-3 years seems a bit of a struggle these days without crashing/artifacting :P

So why can people play games now on high settings with 3+ year old cards. 3 years to be fair is worth it I think if you factor in other advantages of owning a PC.

So quick answer, just trade my console+games for some top PC games and be happy for 3 years?

but still wish I would have waited now if your saying this new engine is going to kill my 680 :(

Hah! I'll believe that when I see it.

The new consoles are also rumoured to use AMD APUs and whilst coding for one piece of hardware is more efficient, you're unlikely to going to be beating a high end card by doing that.

Course, the console games will run at lower settings and most PC gamers upgrade not because they have to, but because they enjoy playing with all the bells and whistles.

Personally I don't buy top end cards because I don't mind turning some of the shiney off, but then I was always more bothered about gameplay over graphics.

I thought 720 was 360 x 2 ?

Any way - post your spec. Don't be disheartened - PC gaming will speak for itself once you get going.

why posy my spec

its your thread :p

im not disheartened i have consoles and pcs . i like all video games .

I meant OP :p I'm not really paying attention to what I'm writing and wether it makes sense. Supposed to be working ;)

Jesus Christ. I hope you are trying to be funny.

It has been a while since I have read so much concocted bs posted as a factual statement. The only bit of your post which has any grounding is that another COD will be out next year. The rest? Hot air.

As of now there is no concrete information in the wild about the Durango. No specs, no date...nothing. Lots of rumours, a leaked MS document from 2 years ago and a development kit sold on Ebay. That is it. XB 720 is just a lazy tag used by media when talking about the sequel to the 360. No name has been announced. Durango, or XB Loop is as far as we get on that one.

But then again I am replying to a man who can also factually claim that Unreal 4 will be 30fps on a 680gtx. The question is who are you? Mark Rein or Cliff Bleszinki?

The concept of "exclusives" is a dying one. It's all about multi-platform now.

The PC will play the same games as the consoles, give or take.

The advantage of PCs is largely in increased frame-rate; multi-display capability; higher resolutions; better graphical fidelity.

Does this PC exist or is it still a list?

Also, I like the lack of preferences in games, I mean you're basically asking us about things that we haven't played yet. There's lots to look out for (google list of pc games x) x being the year, it's not hard, stop willy waving.
The notion PC gaming needs a come back isn't a thing except a figment.

OP, mainly I think it's down to personal preference. Obviously any FPS game should ALWAYS be played on PC :D but I know that lots of people prefer playing sports, racing etc. games on console, especially if you like to get your buddies round and have a few beers on the sofa.

Regarding specs, I'm sure if you upgrade your GPU every few years, you'll have more than enough power. Even if you don't, the 680 will be enough to cope with games for a long time - occasionally a game comes out that really tests systems (Crysis, BF3), but it's not as if devs are constantly pushing the boundaries with new releases. An OC'd Q6600 and a decent GPU is still enough to play any game pretty comfortably.

Op

Your cpu will last for many years in terms of gaming.
As for gpu, I am sure gtx680 can hold out further for 2 years (that is playing on high settings with AA enabled).Otherwise you can carry on using it for 5 years if you are happy with medium settings in games that have yet to be released in future
