So I bought a genuine apple plug in charger off ebay for £5.95, Now I was pretty certain it was going to be a fake but I thought what the hell, if its fake I will demand a refund.

So it turns out to be a fake and even had "mode in china" written on the bottom which was an obvious spelling mistake to pick out.

So I went back to the listing to check if I had missed anything and I noticed they have sold over a thousand! It was listed as a genuine apple charger and even looked the same from the pic.
So I contacted them and they made out they knew nothing about it and were sorry and would contact their supplier and issued me a refund.

So going by this you would assume this top seller would shut down the listing? NO! a week later the ***** were still selling them, so I reported the listing to ebay and left negative feedback, I also noticed many others had left a negative and the sellers negatives were starting to build up.

This was about two weeks ago now and today I log into my ebay to see in my purchase history that the listing has been removed by ebay, great I'm thinking, so then I'm rubbing me hands together and have a look at his feedback expecting to see hundreds more negatives... But I'm wrong he doesn't have any more negatives he in fact has less, loads less!!! he has 6 for this month!!!!

So why the hell has Ebay removed all the negative feedback left for that item and more?? they clearly knew the item was fake but continued to sell them and have they paid the consequence? nope, they took a risk and I bet its paid off big time for him. I guess Ebay don't care as they are probably making them lots of money.

Absolutely disgusting, would never revert my feedback if I did that.:mad:

Avoid ebay wherever I can, I just tend to not sell stuff I have laying around then use ebay. The fees are ridiculous.

9 times out of 10, the seller will ask the buyer to remove the feedback if they offer a full refund without making the buyer return the item (which they're entitled to do) so that is why his feedback will be disappearing, you'd be surprised how hard it is to get eBay involved in removing feedback for you

You are telling me. I have a buyer who never paid, who left negative feedback saying he never received the goods. I filed a non payment.

Will eBay remove the feedback? Will they **** as it does not violate their policies. Apparently I can obtain a court order to do so . . . .

eBay's practices are beyond low.

You may not know this, but eBay filters and removes results from the "completed listings" search.

Items which do not meet the expected value of the item (ie, are sold too cheap from the buyer's/ eBay's point of view), do not appear on a "completed listings" search.

The only reason for this is to keep the "market value" of an item as high as possible, and ensure people bid way over the odds.

Ebay is a load of ****.

Some stupid hormonal bint named "Michelle" bought something worth a few quid off me. Box had a tiny scratch on it....

End of the ****ing world as far as she's concerned. I even offered that she could keep the item and I'd refund the whole payment. But no. She wanted to send the item back and wanted me to pay for her to send it back, even though I offered to refund the payment and let her throw it in the bin.

I complied with 100% of her demands and she still left me a negative feedback. Explained the whole thing to eBay customer services and they reply with a useless copy/paste script meaning they don't give a ****.

Amazing how there's no protection against false feedback. This woman clearly is taking the ****.

Now I was pretty certain it was going to be a fake but I thought what the hell, if its fake I will demand a refund.

So you bought a product at an unbelievably low price - knowing full well it was more than likely going to be a fake inferior copy. Did I miss something else ?

The reason sellers can sell fake goods on ebay is because there is a market for them - if people would stop buying counterfeit goods / or Chinese copies at ridiculously low prices - then the sellers wouldn't be able to turn it into a small business venture.

And no - Ebay will do naff all about it. The same way they do nothing about the fake phone batteries, dodgy stolen phones, stolen rings, fake handbags, fake shoes, copied games, Perfumes, watches, sunglasses, CD's, Movies. etc etc.... ;)

I have to say that, there is a good reason this market for counterfeit/fake goods etc. exists... This is an example of what has happened to me when my Dell laptop charger stopped working..

Checked online and to by an official replacement from Dell it costs £90, or I can buy an "official" one from EBay for £15. Now I would obviously prefer the original, and I have had a few of these "fake" ones to get on that worked, but they were replaced by the vendor thankfully. If it wasn't for these sellers I would have been paying an exorbitant amount for something which is basically a 19.5V, 4A power supply with a special Dell communication protocol that makes it harder for people to copy, but obviously not that hard as I am sure the EBay sellers are making some money on it, so Dell are clearly ripping users off for these accessories!

Apple are no different monopolising on their position with chargers and other accessories, if it is expensive it must be good after all , Right?

To Fox, how do you know that items which are sold too cheaply don't appear in the completed listings? There have been a few items which I have bought below the market price by keeping an eye on items for a bit, saved quite a lot in places too! The charges for selling on EBay certainly put me off selling anything reasonable on there! There are some good things about it though, for instance; I needed a new DVD RW drive and **** had one that was £12 + £6 postage or thereabouts. On the **** EBay store it was £12 with free postage which I thought was a pretty good deal. I have reported one or two fake items on EBay in the past and they were taken down

Several auctions I won, where I won cheap, were not listed in "completed listings" after I won them. The whole process was complete, including leaving feedback. I checked for days after and they never showed up on completed listings.

I've also followed auctions that I didn't win. The ones which sold high showed up in completed listings. The ones which sold low, didn't.

If you watch eBay for a long time, you start to pick up on these things. I kinda get a bit obsessive about it :p

It just shows how we as consumers are constantly being manipulated.

Totally agree with the consumers being constantly manipulated! Guess I need to keep a closer eye on the completed listings!

But for £6, what could you really expect?

spoffle, this misconception is the reason that companies get away with charging extortionate prices for simple accessories. Just looked up the official price, £26... and that is for a glorified USB mains charger. Quite simply a complete rip off! The kindle wall charger/ my HTC charger look exactly the same, it is just a charger there isn't really anything unique/special that makes it worth anywhere near that price tag. Oh wait, the apple logo +£20...

Oh of course, that's what I was getting at. Any one should know that buying an official charger is gonna be a rip off.

I just buy generic ones, I had a generic/fake one for my iPhone and iPod for years and it was fine (not that I expected it to be anything but fine of course).
