Hi there

OK seems Porsche/press are busy tonight, but another great video comparing a Boxster S with PASM and Porsche torque vectoring versus a 911 with no options:-

Boxster S manual doing 0-60mph in 4.4s and 0-100mph in 10.5s, seems the Boxster is now a seriously quick car!

Usually agree with the boxster comment... does look nice though.

If you mean cheap mans 911, think that's being invalid comment for sometime, they are awesome hooning fun.

Now you could argue the Boxster looks as good if not better from some angles and the performance difference difference is now, well very small! :)

Indeed, but the thought of buying the lowest end saddens me. If I was going to go Porsche I would do it properly.

Also if I was going to bend over for Porsche tax I'd be looking towards a GTR ;) - 2.8 seconds through the pearly gates in flames, that is the way to go out.

How is buying the best Roadster on the planet not 'doing it properly'? The opinions people who don't own Porsche's have about Porsche's continue to confuse me.

Presumably if you went to buy a Ford you couldn't face the idea of not buying a 7 seater Galaxy Titanium X? And you'd never touch an Audi that wasn't an A8 V12 LWB?

While I fully agree I'm not entirely up to speed on the Porsche 911 & the Porsche Boxster scene having driven neither of the above vehicles I must admit the whole image of it's a "poor mans 911" is getting a bit long in the tooth now!

Especially since I saw this while out on my travels:

It looked stunning in the flesh (so to speak) and sounded awesome!

// Edit if this is a "poor mans Porsche" then where can I make my cheap purchase please? :p

That is my view about any car, not just Porsche  chill out Foxy, they're called opinions.

Personally not a fan of Porsche's, that is just preference not arrogance.

the 981 Boxster is awesome

then again I recently drove a 3.4 987 with PDK and that was superb too

Yeah it's crazy how amazing the 987 was and now Porsche with the 981 is vastly superior, they seem to have found the winning formula of immense grip levels whilst still being an absolute hoot. :D

I am always one car ahead with my plans and at the moment a V8 F type looks favourite next but if there is any sign of a Turbo 981 Boxster or Cayman then my money may well head that way :D

And I'm asking you to explain your opinion, thats how a discussion works :p

Well for me I know I would always want better, just down to how I am.

So if I grabbed a Boxster S, I would no doubt not be happy unless I could get a top end model of Porsche's normal offerings (ruling out a Carrera GT :p).

Exactly the situation I'm in now with the 350z, why didn't I get the 370 or get a gtr on a lease. Fortunately those two options can be easily answered at the present time, insurance.

That does seem a fairly bizarre viewpoint, taken to its logical conclusion there is no point you buying any car that isn't a Lambo Aventador, or if its purely a 'top model by each manufacturre' thing then it would seem you could fix the problem by ordering a top of the range Perodua.

The poor mans Porsche comment always makes me laugh, said by absolute morons

Similar to what Fox said, so some guy buys a F10 530i, what an absolute **** he is, buying a poor mans BMW, why didn't he buy an M5 or the 550i? I mean he must be broke right?

Oh god, you only bought a Gallardo?! You're a ******* joke! You must live in a council house and live off benefits as surely you'd have bought a Reventón. You just got the poor mans Lambo

The Boxster is not lowest end anything - what an absurd comment. You don't buy a Boxster because you want a Porsche, you buy it because you want the best Roadster money can buy. 'Lowest end' would be getting an MX-5 and reassuring yourself it's a sports roadster in the same league as the Boxster.

Daft comment is daft.

In other news, the Boxster looks seriously good in motion - cool vid.

I believe the 981 3.4 in the same engine as the base 991, just slightly down on bhp. I really do think the 981 S is the best 2 seater convertible for ~£60k available at the moment.
