Being one of the "rare" few that still uses my Start Menu, i'll be staying with Windows 7.
Don't get your beef?
You can tweak your metro screen to contain everything your start menu did....

Its not that people dislike windows 8, its just that win 7 is already so awesome. I won't be upgrading for that reason.
Oh another cool thing is when in metro just start typing what you want....
rem for example brings up the remote desktop tile
you can do that in windows 7 as well, it isn't really any different in that respect.

It's quicker for me than the old start menu ever was. .

I'm more annoyed Windows 8 doesn't have a 30 day activation period like previous Windows versions, otherwise I would HAVE grabbed it from somewhere now, then activate it when I officially buy it...
Kinda sucks when you have a new system to make now, then in 3 weeks end up doing another full install.... grrr![]()

H'mm, never tried it, I wonder if its much different to RTM, guess it's got a few more bugs, does it receive updates?spoffle said:They changed that in favour of a fully working 90 day trial version you can get.
You have to do a fresh re-install when it runs out though, but it's not that bad.
Anyone who is stuck in the past and in love with their start menu is a noob.
I too was a tad confused by the newness of it....But once you realise its far better both in speed and usage windows 7 is a long distant memory![]()
How can you be a noob by using an old feature? Perhaps you mean an old? Perhaps for enjoying something new then you are the noob?
I don't like having a start menu on my desktop which is my beef with Windows 8. With Windows 7 my start menu is organised in a nice way. I can also type cmd for example and the window pops up on my desktop rather than flicking to another screen to run it.
Usage I don't think it is better - you have to think of giving this to a business, for example, could they use this from the get go without any training? The short answer is no - if I put this on the desktop in front of one of the users they wouldn't know where to begin.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Metro should be like Media Center and have been optional with a 'boot to this' option.
Products such as Classic Start Menu would not be as popular as they are if people didn't think there was a need.
