nvidia or amd card?

was looking into this earlier and decided the best for me was the 7950 tceq boost, placed an order from O.C. earlier, looks like a good card for the price for it.

AMD cards are better value overall, but the quality of drivers and options to tinker with sways me towards nVidia everytime. Just so much to toy with.

Do you get things like adaptive vsync and such with AMD drivers these days?

Misinformation. Their drivers are fine and you can tinker with them all you want.

You're also mixing up control panel with drivers, they're not the same thing.

Hi,
I had a look at back of card online, only 1 dvi port? I currently have 2 monitors which are dvi only (vga aside).
Does this crd have an adaptor? Or is it 1 dvi slot only?
(I notice the Sapphire at £269.99 has 2 ports)
TIA
Mark

Hi,
Now need a vid card...Considering the ICEQ here as discussed, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS

A few Q's...
1. My PSU is a OCZ600MXSP (it has 2 x 6pin plugs ready to power card) - I take it this PSU is powerful enough?
(Computer spec: i7 2600k, 8gb 1600 mem, 1x120gb SSD, 1x1tb HDD, 1x2tb HDD, 1x DVDRW)

2. Although this card only has 1 visible DVI port, I run 2 monitors. Can I easily connect 2?

TIA

Mark

1. Yes PSU is more than enough.
2. you can buy an adapter or it may even be supplied with it (Phone OcUK to confirm or maybe someone here can confirm).

A DVI to HDMI adapter will work fine for connecting the card to your monitor.

its true best bang for buck looks like its the 7950's when overclocked as they have massive amount of headroom. However,im buying one today or tomorrow but im stuck in between the msi tf3 and the his iceq:D

Sorry I can't help with any input here but just want to tell you my thoughts. I've always sided with Nvidia. However recently, I want to give AMD/ATI a try. I guess you will never know unless you try it yourself.

I would get the MSI, only because the warranty seems a lot better.

It seems after 28 days if an HIS card goes wrong, OcUK end up having to send the cards back to HIS in China/Taiwan for repair/rma.

This guy has been waiting 16 days already. Check this post >> http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=22879388

Maybe it doesn't bother you much as it does me, I worry about these things lol, but in my opinion MSI owns the throne for AMD warranty, with Nvidia your looking at Gigabyte, EVGA, KFA2 or MSI in that order, all good really.

given the choice of a 7950 or a 670, I personally would go for the 670

given some of the end results I've seen on this forum from 7950 buyers vs. the results I've gotten from mine I would stick with the 670 if buying again now

I had to RMA my MSI 7970 Lightning after 2 months usage. It took exactly 28 days from OCUK receiving my card to me getting the card back.

They make good cards, I've owned a vapor in the past. Sapphire usually take at the very least of 3 weeks, if you do a google of 'Sapphire RMA' you will see people waiting over 28 days, but no rma should take longer than 28 days, if you get to 28 days then you contact the retailer to sort you out.
