*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

Once i get my grey note 2 i'll be buying the official flip cover

Wow...

I like my phones naked, but that looks like a really nice bit of kit. I like the way that it replaces the rear cover, adding only a minimal thickness to the phone. I might have to pick one of those up.

And regarding quidco:

I'm still not convinced. Looking at the feedback for the T-mobile quidco, the last three feedback items all state that their cashback offer was declined just after the 14-day cooling off period. A fourth (out of six) states that they have been waiting over six months for payment to come through.

Can anyone convince me otherwise?! It all just seems too hit and miss. I wouldn't mind if it was just a small "bonus", but even with £120 off (which has reduced to £95 now) the deals are still significantly more expensive than through 3rd party retailers. Without the cashback they're just extortionate.

I had no trouble with my last tmobile topcashback claim. Got £80 cashback for a 1 month rolling £15 a month contract. Took 3 months but thats standard.

Does the front cover fold around the back on the official flip case without cause any damage to the case.

I'm interested in getting one as the hard case i got from mobilefun isn't that great, but i need something that i can use with a car holder too, without having to take it out the case everytime.

Anyone used a car mount for the the note 2 yet? I've used Brodit mounts for my last 4 phones now and really like them, but need to get something that will take a note 2 and a s3 (as my gf will also be using my car soon).

First off, in the 10 or so transaction I've ran through Quidco in the past few years, two of which for mobile contracts, I've received the money through in full for everything within the allotted time stated on the website (which if you read the T&Cs, can actually be quite a long time). Secondly I just forget about it and when it comes through it comes through. I go through the website, buy the product, make sure it's tracked, and forget. Money turns up in my account automatically, I don't even need to go back on Quidco until I have something else to buy. If you refresh the website everyday it's going to feel like forever before you get any money.

Quidco does turn some good deals into great deals, but I find it's best treating it as a nice bonus rather than an integral part of how much the deal costs in total, if that makes sense!

I've never known anyone scammed out of cash, though to be fair my control group is about 3 or 4 people at work who also use it.

Thanks for the feedback on cashback websites guys... While I agree that, in principle, the cashback should be seen as a bonus and not an integral part of the deal, when it's £120 on a phone contract it makes a big difference to the viability of the offer in respect to other options. Which makes it hard to ignore.

Anyway I've ordered the grey LTE phone through T-mobile, via topcashback. They're offering £121.50 off any £36+ non-iphone contract, which brings the T-mobile deal down (almost) to the level of the offers on third party sites (bmp and mpd), though obviously the third party sites are not offering an LTE phone. T-mobile on topcashback has a "99.7% satisfied with merchant" rating, which is somewhat more encouraging than quidco.

So in summary:

Note2 grey (4G LTE)
- 2000 mins
- unlimited texts
- unlimited data

£36/month
£129 upfront with £121.50 cashback.

My advice for cash back websites: use a separate browser. I basically only use Internet Explorer for Quidco :p. I clean out the cookies and cache every time and then fire it up; log straight into Quidco and go through the deal. So far I've had no issues doing it this way.

If I'm feeling massively paranoid about it I will look for the deal at home then actually place the order at work during my lunch break. That way it is a completely separate machine and browser combination.

I imagine a lot of issues could stem from cookies being blocked etc. Not 100% sure on this but I think they also state you have to complete the whole transaction through them; so if they can spot that you have been looking at the deal outside of Quidco tracking it then perhaps they won't pay out. Just to clarify that could be completely wrong :p

Well I used a separate browser, and cleared out cookies. No tracking confirmation yet. The topcashback info states an average of 1hr for tracking to be confirmed, so hopefully it will be soon.

Edit: Cashback has tracked. Currently showing £75.50 rather than £120 though. Website mentions that the cashback may track at a lower amount before being increased so hopefully it's 'normal'.

Bit the bullet and ordered the Note 2 from Rainforest website.

Should be interesting to compare it to the Samsung Galaxy S3.

OT but is there any way to check if a mobile phone you have purchased in on a contract? My friend is looking to sell the Note 2 he picked up for £320 but what if it gets barred. It makes no sense for anyone to sell it that cheap when you get easily get another £100 for it. He has a receipt from the shop so should it ever get barred he can take it back but it would be a hassle if he sold it to someone else.
