The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Jorzeh how much was that printer and how much are the inks for it? How come you decided on that specific on? Been contemplating a new printer for ages but never got round to it!

Cost me 329.99 inks are around 12.99 to 15.99 but they do many A3 prints, I intend to use refillable cartridges with lyson inks though.

Edit: Reason for this printer, It's about the best printer you can get refillable cartridges for, Infact lyson ink is better then Canon's own.. :)

Well I just accidentally a whole £550.95, saved 3% by paying via bank transfer.

Let's see if the service is as good as the Google Shopper reviews suggest!

New photography practice subject arrived today.

It is yeah, although I use a far stronger sepia cast in mine compared to yours as I don't do portraits so don't have to worry about skin tones :D

Nikon D3 on the way and a new bag. Arrives wednesday :) Loved the feel of the camera and I don't need more than 12mp, but the speed of the AF and burst rates are amazing for wildlife so made perfect sense. Well under budget also :D I'll put some pictures on when it all arrives.
wow that surprises me when i thought you where getting the 800e ?

Oh yeah, also got a sigma 70-200 F2.8 lens coming tomorrow also. Don't use it that often so couldn't justify the nikon ones.

If only you could fit a digital back to something like that!

You can get Digital backs for some medium format film cameras, however they tend to be very expensive. I think a company called Leaf produced quite a few (think they've been bought out by Mamiya) and there is another company called Phase one.

Having done a search, Mamiya Leaf produce a Digital back called the Credo, available in 40, 60 and 80 megapixel sizes - though the prices are, well shall we say, slightly out of mere mortals range - the 80 megapixel one retails for $38,995 (well at least you get $5 change from $39k)

Have a video of the thing as well

I was looki at the 70-200mm f2.8s earlier, as you say the Nikon is very expensive so like the look of the Sigma. Let me know how you get on as I need a lens with more reach to go with my D600 and thinking this one or the tamron 70-300 USD VC.

Will do mate. I'm a big fan of sigma lenses after using their 150mm F2.8 macro lens extensively so I hope this follows in the good footsteps!

Lol aye big change of direction. Got use to have high fps for wildlife so want to take it further. Also dont need 36mp either as it'll slow me down too much.
i am with you
after reading your list of your types of pics you do on your 800/800e thread the d3 was a surprise

True. If the D800 was 24mp like the D600 and had higher FPS, I'd have got one in a heart beat. If I need one for studio work I'll get one as a second body, although I could get away with a D600 for that also due to not needing the AF system for studio shots anyway.
