Currently with t mobile and pay £25 a month for sim only.
1200 any time any net minutes.
Unlmited landline calls.
500 texts.
3gb of data a month.

Always nearly use all my minutes and texts so i think the contract is just right.

If i renew i think i might get 20% off.

They do have a new package for £21 unlimited everything but only 1gb of data.

And i need more than that as i some times tether as well...................

I currently have a sim free HTC one s

HOW EVER i am very interested in this new 4g stuff and would love the speed and i believe as i live in bromley in kent i am in the coverage area.

But i am very confused by it all and cant seem to work out the new price plans whether they include it or not?

T Mobile have the Galaxy S3 LTE version and i am very tempted but most of the half decent contracts are for 2 years and are about £40 a month for less than i have now which is where i become unsure.

Or either i go completely opposite and go with Virgin Mobile for there new amazing £12 a month sim only package. But i need to clarify how much data is included in that as i cant get a straight answer.

Ive also been turned down recently for 2 credit cards. Admitedly they were 0% ones which ive been told at the moment are quite hard to get so dont want to apply for another contract and be turned down.

I also reside at 2 locations that have no signal so orange wma would be very handy as well as ive seen how well that works and its very good.

Also like the look of the tesco contracts as well

choices choices......................im not sure what to do. Anyone advice

thanks

EE (Tmobile+Orange) are launching their 4G service on 30/10/12, I'll wait till then if I was you.

If you also end up wanting a new phone sim-free or via contract, The new Nexus phone should be revealed late this month.

Well as a proviso the deals on the websites at the moment are indeed what the prices will be for the 4G network, since they sell the 4G phones already.

I recently upgraded on my current deal and picked up an HTC One XL for £18.45, 100mins, Unlimited Texts, 750mb data for 24months, £149.99 for the Handset (Recieved £168 today from CEX for my Galaxy Nexus).

I was advised that on the 30th October for launch I just need to call up and they will issue me a new 4G SIM to replace my current 3G one and my contract will remain the same from my renewal, so all in all if you can get a good deal now from an upgrade, why not do it? Just need to call on the 30th for a replacement SIM and good to go.

Current contracts certainly do not include 4G. There will be an additional price premium for 4G contracts - the exact amount is unknown, but is likely to be in the region of £10 per month at first.

If you have a 4G capable phone (e.g. GS3 LTE, One-XL, Note2 LTE) and you're on T-mobile, then you'll be able to upgrade to 4G without having to buy out your contract (i.e. paying only the extra monthly rate).

I'm pretty sure that's not the case.

You will be able to remain on the same contract (i.e. you can switch to 4G without buying out the rest of your contract), but you'll still need to pay the additional 4G rate.

See, for example, this report from The Telegraph, or similar information from elsewhere on the web. As much as I'd like it to be (since I've got a 4G Note2 on the way), 4G won't be "free".

ah if 4g is gonna be another £10 on top of a contract that will probably price me out of the market:(

It could be less... Recent developments mean that other networks will be 6-9 months behind EE in getting 4G out, rather than 12-15 months as previously thought. That might push EE into offering more competitive deals.

I'd be surprised if it were less than £5pm extra though.

As I've said, I'm basing my information on what I've been told on my upgrade I've just completed, my tariff will remain exactly the same and I just need to call for a new SIM.

I did enquire about a new price etc and he said I wouldn't be charged any additionally to what I was upgrading to.

Plus that's an article from the middle of September, I'm fairly certain the guys completing upgrades to the new 4G handsets at the moment are aware of how it will be working, at least I would hope so :D

We'll see!

I hope you're right, but I'm not holding my breath!

If I'm not I'll not be a happy Orange...Everything Everywhere customer  Angry letter of complaint to Orange about being misold etc...but I suspect it'll be ok since the contracts seem to be that bit more expensive on the site for 4G handsets already ;)

Prices seem pretty much identical for the S3 LTE and the S3 regular on T-mobile...

Besides, I wouldn't put too much stock in the knowledge of those operating the phones for mobile networks. I called T-mobile yesterday to ask about getting an upgrade on my contract for the Note2 - the guy had never even heard of the phone, despite it being featured on their website. When I asked about getting a deal he said that he couldn't offer anything because they don't receive pricing information about a product until the day before it's released, and it isn't released until the 15th (despite the contract pricing being displayed with prominence on their website).

So, I'd proceed with a healthy degree of skepticism. As far as I'm aware, we're waiting to see *how much* a 4G upgrade will be. You're the first person I've come across who is suggesting that it will be "free".

Well when completing my upgrade that was considered my 4G upgrade...at least in my eyes and the colleagues also as I managed to get an answer on whether my price would change, received a no as I had completed my upgrade...alas he may possibly be wrong, no reason to doubt him however.

I'll find out soon enough on the 30th however!

Im going to try ringing later and ask for a uk based operative and ill see if i get any where....

Theres only two handsets id be interested in and thats the Note or the SIII but only on 4g if i cant afford the 4g tarriffs i may as well stick with what i have.

iPhone 5 16GB Black
Unlimited internet, texts and T-Mobile calls
Plus 2000 minutes to other networks
Just £36 a month (phone cost £109, plan length 24 months)

Doesnt look that a great deal with plus i think the full monty data package is capped at 1gb and then throttled?

Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Marble White

Unlimited internet, texts and T-Mobile calls
Plus 2000 minutes to other networks
Just £36 a month (phone cost £49, plan length 24 months)

That i could swallow if it was the new SIII

HTC One X

Unlimited texts and T-Mobile minutes
Unlimited data on your phone
Plus 2000 minutes to other UK networks
Just £36 a month (phone cost £50, plan length 24 months)

Is the above 4g ready?^^^^^^^^^^^^

OR i stick with what i have and get 20% off my current £25 a month making it £20 a month...

OR switch to virgin.....

Premiere SIM Only £20 with unlimited email & BlackBerry Messenger
SIM card cost FREE
Your tariff gives you:
Unlimited minutes to landlines
2500 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited Mobile Web

I dont need blackberry data but its cheaper to have it????

Id get double my minutes with virgin. Ive read that virgin internet is truly unlimited but i cant find out for sure?

I could just renew my sim and then buy a sim free SIII i suppose but it all depends on the 4g price packaging. If only they would tell people for sure.

The OneX is not 4G, but the One XL is. Have a look at that.

By the way, all non-iphone T-mobile lines 36/month and above have a 120 pound cashback on topcashback right now.

I don't think full monty data is throttled above 1Gb... T-mobile offer a 1.5Gb package, and full monty is positioned above that. T-mobile don't charge for going over any of their fixed data limits, they just throttle speed, so a 1Gb throttle for full monty would place it below their "lesser" packages. There is a "fair use policy", but they don't explicitly state what it is. Worth checking out when you call them.

Edit:

Did some poking around, it seems that there is no throttling on full monty. As an example I found this:

according to their network management documentation, T-Mobile only further restrict customer's speeds if they exceed their FUP and the Full Monty tariffs a) don't have a data FUP and b) are explicitly excluded from reduced speeds in the document itself.

However, T-mobile no longer allow tethering on the full monty package. This was removed quietly and recently (start of August). Lots of links about this (...for example).

So, if you're tethering then you need to consider Three (who do throttle, but only p2p data at peak times). If you're not going to tether, then Virgin media or T-mobile unlimited data packages will work fine.

Just wait until the 30th, there's a project going through EE now about that date which means new pricing deals will come out with it. All upgrades are dealt with UK call centre staff so don't worry about that either :)

EE are going to do a short term land grab which means they will need plenty of firepower for Q3 in the form of cut price deals for a month or so. I wouldn't be suprised if they allow early upgrades to be done before current schedule (@18 out of 24 months for example) in order to grab share and re-order people to the just before xmas period.

So do you think we will be seeing competitive deals at launch? Or more towards Christmas?

Interesting... I didn't know this.

I just ordered a 24 month full monty contract (£36pm) with an LTE Note2. Perhaps I would have been better off waiting until the end of the month?

Right im gonna wait then:)

Thanks for all the input guys:)

Im quite happy with my tariff atm but would be happy to change.

I get 3gb of data at the moment but if i go over it i can only browse duing the day and cant download etc....

At the moment i also tether not sure if im allowed or not but i dont abuse it, its just for emergencys as it should be imo.

They wanted this off me for the Note 2

i could do with the £120 cash back but would have to change to payg then change back and as i said ive just been turned down for two credit cards so am unsure i would pass the credit check again:(

From and To, maybe further. Look at it from their POV and disregard any concieved notion of customer desire - They have an exclusive product for ~6 months in which there is no real material gain for the customer* but the image of it is hugely important (a more cynical person would claim i was talking about an apple product here ;) ). In order to make your product desirable and keep them for a few years are you willing to sacrifice a few quid at the start in the form of a better deal or possibly early new contract re-negotiation for their class A customers? Sure you are, you just need a launchpad like a new service option to get you in the media to give you mind share.

Couple that with the fact that 1/4 of all mobile contracts are signed up in the xmas rush (~6 weeks before xmas) and the iPhone 5 does LTE on your lovely band, it's like a perfect marketing storm.

*For serious, in testing people didn't realise they had LTE on without the logo often.

I went for the £36pm option, which is the same, but with 2000mins rather than unlimited (still way more than I'll use; I only care about the data really!). The handset cost was £129, which is ridiculous given that 3rd parties offer this deal with a free handset, but with the cashback it's not too bad. Either I'll keep the new number or I'll do the "PAC code shuffle" to get my number replaced.

If you can manage the size (which is admittedly considerable), then the Note2 definitely looks like the cream of the Android crop right now. Of course there are new Nexus phones coming out in November, so it may be unseated then.
