Got a Yaris, Corolla or Camry? 7.4 million cars recalled

Love the way they don't actually say what the problem is. Sure it's the window switch, but what exactly is the problem?

This sounds like a nice pre-emptive recall on the face of it, seeing as there's been no accidents/complaints etc according to the news article. Better than some manufacturers with recurring faults on cars who bury their head in the sand and only fix things when people kick off.

*cough*clio 197 melting clio steering wheel, chocolate gearbox, wonky glovebox, rattly everything*cough*

Without knowing the fault it's hard to say, it could be to do with switchgear overheating / fire / the auto limit not cutting in and peoples heads being stuck in windows.

All of the above are safety related issues, you've listed build quality problems.

They obviously don't want a repeat of their last faux pas with the accelerator pedals.

Another article said:

"The company said uneven application of grease during the assembly process has caused a problem with some electric window switches. "

"The switch is not designed to be lubricated with commercially available lubricants - application of these lubricants could lead to overheating and/or melting of the switch assembly."

Bit random.. When did anyone last grease an electric window switch? Makes me think of indicator fluid ;)

I even heard somewhere, they could catch Fire!!!!

Make you wonder who would want to buy a new Car these days!!!

Its true they don't make them like they used to. My corolla had a faulty clutch master cylinder..replaced it with a new Toyota one and that went faulty within 2 years...they are compromising on the materials they use to make the parts.

Fir me Toyota is a shell of the company it used to be. They had so many halo cars now the closest i can think of is the ft86which back in the day was prettynmuvh the equivalent of the 4th rung down the Toyota ladder and now it is their top model.

Used to be

Supra tt (276bhp)
Celica st205 255 bhp
Mr2 turbo 245 bhp
Ae86
Starlet gt...

Now they just make econo boxes.

At least Nissan still has its halo gtr and 370z..

You forgot about the LFA? I agree Toyota do not make enough sportier cars like they used to but the LFA would be in my top 3 if I win the lottery.
