Southern Blood

Bradford. The one place in the UK that, as a white person, made me feel truly out of place. Usually I wouldn't mind, but it's the fact that everyone stares...

Edit: could have been because of my good looks I suppose. Yes, definitely that.

Blaen Y Maes estate, Swansea. Or maybe the Gurnos estate in Merthyr. They don't show their weapons in those places, you don't need to be warned in that way ;)

I had the 'privilege' of going to the Broadfield Estate in Crawley recently. That was a beautiful part of the world.

One of the guys that went there for work had a samurai sword swung at him, was only delivering crisps to a pub!

Unless you went to somewhere "out of town" then I don't really understand your comments about Manchester. Every town and city has its rough parts with no exception, but I've been round Manchester on a night, I've been round Withinton/Didsbury and never felt threatened. Obviously there are rough areas like Salford, Wythenshawe etc, but you are always going to have this. I have mates who live in Chorlton and sometimes the bit near the cemetary is a bit rough, but its fine really. Judging books by covers, is springing to mind.

How about Moss Side? Is it still as bad as it once was or just reputation of times passed?

Outside the Blue Orchid in Croydon on a Saturday night.
As long as you didn't eat from the burger van you were OK :)

I remember going to Tiger Tiger near East Croydon station. When we left there were five or six riot vans parked outside 'just in case' and some berk was getting a good pasting from the bouncer for being a bit drunk.

Never again.

Sums Tiger Tiger up. They have a "happy hour" from 5 till 9 when drinks are half price so inevitably people end up getting smashed out of their faces.

I've never had any problems in Croydon though. Just keep yourself to yourself and NEVER make eye contact with anyone :D

I used to live in Inglewood, California in the 1980s. That was a barrel of laughs. Park South in Swindon wasn't too clever in the early 90s either.

Its probably pretty rough, but just don't go there if you don't have the need to. I love the pubs and bars of Withinton and Didsbury though, always have a good night out there, be it a pub quiz, a quiet drink or a lively bar. Old House At Home in Withinton on a thursday night is great.

Read the OP - I have been to Manchester a fair few times, no problems. Was minging this time though!

Where abouts was it though? Could you not park at the travel lodge?

Read the thread? :p

No parking there sadly.

I'm still fairly amused by the notion that a fair few ocuk'ers walk about seeing knives on a daily basis. I'll stick to my locals carrying caviare in bags from jack wills :p

Its fair to say that I've been out in Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Hull a lot of times, often in the crime riddled student areas and I've never seen anybody clearly carrying a knife (touch wood). Majority of those are city centres etc, but I generally avoid the rougher areas.
