Hear, their, everyware ;)
I'm having major ball-ache here with a new build and I just can't see what I've missed to be able to sort out my slow SSDs...

2 SSD (Corsair 180 Force GS) in ASmedia 6GB slots
2 1TB HDD in the Intel 6GB slots
1 BRay DVD/r in a 3GB slot Asus Rampage IV Extreme (NOT overclocked until I get SSD sorted out..)

The BIOS is set correctly with AHCI mode on both channels.

Benchmarks AS and Atto show SSD reads at 300-350 and writes at 280-295, 4K are 18-19

Just can't see why they're so much slower than they're supposed to be? Any advice much appreciated :)

asmedia wont be as fast as intel ports im afraid, youd be better switching them for your hdd's and put the ssd's on intel sata3,then you should see full speeds

I actually switched FROM those originally as the plan was to RAID0 the SSDs and the Intel Driver just wouldn't load on Win7 install (unverified) and no Floppy to do it via BIOS, the Manual says the ASMedia slots are best for SSD and Intel best for HDD

intel are the best regarding reliability and speed, windows 7 should find the raid drivers for you as you install windows? then you can update them to the latest intel raid drivers from asus website

With the SSDs on the Intel slot I'm getting 410 read and 280 write, 4k is up slightly to 20, still way off what they're supposed to be. Did see improved access times though it was down to 0.096ms from 0.250 odd before.

Also, the Intel RST driver is throwing a wobbly about being unverified at start up now and won't 'run' just hangs then closes after about 40secs.

My teeth can't take much more of the gnashing this thing is giving them :(

are you using the latest bios? you'll need the latest oprom in the bios for ssd's to support trim and get the most out of them in raid

you should be seeing around 900-1000mb read/write in raid0,try re-installing the rst drivers,it should work fine

Is there no RAID option for this setting?

Some boards have IDE/AHCI/RAID, others just IDE/AHCI.

The very latest 11.?? IRST drivers have been reported as buggy, might be worth trying 10.8 which are stable (but might not support TRIM).

Yes, I am about to load latest BIOS and then nuke everything and try again, would really like to see RAID0 SSDs before my I grind my teeth into oblivion.

OK, updated BIOS to latest version and installed older IRST Drivers, the Start-up Error has now gone, BOOT is lightning fast compared to before (Probably the BIOS update). But the Benchmarks are worse, now it is 400 Read (This fluctuates wildly from 100-400 normal?) Write is now down to 204, 4K is the same and access times are slightly improved.

I just can't figure out what the problem is and I just know it will be something really stupid I've overlooked somewhere.

it could be down to formatting the ssd'd maybe they need to be secure erased and start again, make sure they are 4k aligned too or formatted to 4096mb

Well nuking everything and starting again in RAID0 still didn't make them run as they should, and now my HDDs are showing as ejectable media which is sort of irritating as it looks like the only way of disabling it is to disable write caching.

So the scores on the doors are..

810 Read and 415 Write, 4K is now 22 and access time has increased to 0.256 from 0.09*

I'm also having a nightmare now getting into the BIOS as the ****ing thing boots so fast into Windows, seems like there's a 0.00004 nanosecond window of opportunity to hit the Del button after updating the BIOS

I thought the ATTO bench wasn't very accurate as it uses highly compressed data?

I downloaded it to try again in the RAID0 and now it says my Writes are faster than my Reads coming in at 1068399 and 972592 respectively.

you should use atto for sandforce controlled drives as they are quicker at compressionable data, drives like crucial/marvel controller are quicker at un compressionable data or vice versa i cant remember

those speeds look right for that drive though, maybe you need use it for a few days and let trim sort out the drives
