Final Fantasy 7

Yes but it sounded way better since the midis were custom designed for the PS1 sound chip.

The PC version doesn't sound like the original sound track.

The original PS1 release had a much better than midi quality soundtrack and the PC version had midi tracks. However, Spoffle, the PC's midi soundtrack could be nostalgic as it could e the first version of the game they played.

It could be nostalgic indeed, however it seems like this playthrough is the first time ICEx21's played it.

The Orignal Music used the PS1 Internal sound chip..IT was midi

i even have the Original soundtrack which is MIDI

What I meant was it didn't use the MIDI music that the PSX one used.

I actually do have the soundtracks myself, as well as the sound tracks from most other FF games.

No it's not, original PSX release didn't use midi music.

I think FFIX is a much better game than VII, I think the only reason people rave about VII so much is because it's probably the very first FF game they played.

IX was awful *vomit smiley*

FFIII was the first I played...which was awesome. I think you're right to some degree /re some people liking VII because it was the first they played but tbh for me having all the characters come to life in 3d and the amazing orchestral sound track just really made it. I still haven't been as excited about a game since.

I played 8 (A lot), then 9 (didn't even complete), then 7. It's a toss up between 7 and 8 for me, I had never played a game like 8 before. And I loved it, and while 7 was still amazing, it didn't have the "new" feel.

Shame that no-one makes games that good anymore. And if they do please feel free to let me know (Maybe Oblivion/Skyrim are somewhere close).

The Midgar section is just perfect imo. A great intro to the story and world. I remember when I first played it I didn't really know what to expect, I had just left the Shinra building thinking 'wow, this is amazing' .....and then you enter the world map amd the game really gets going!

Yeah..I was so overwhelmed when the proper world map opened and I realised just how small a part of the world Midgar was :)

What I meant by it being nostalgic to me, is just the feel of playing a game with midi music which makes me feel like I'm playing a game from back in the 90s.
Ah I miss some of the 90s games especially Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3.
The rest were horrible after those 3.

You should play Super Meatboy, now that game's nostalgic.

It feels every bit the same as "old school" classic platformers but with nice high res visuals.

me and my brother played no.3 or 2 on our modded ps1 :D
the one with that blue thing at the end :)

It's sad reading these threads, with all the old games coming up, knowing that we'll never seen an age of gaming like that again. (90s) Tomb Raider anyone? The remake looks cool, but it'll never beat the dinosaur.

I bought a couple of the newer Tomb Raider games including the anniversary edition with the dinosaur, I honestly couldn't get into it. There's far too many points in the game I just find frustrating or boring.
That being said said, I can appreciate the actual game and the reason why so many people love it and have fond memories of it, it's just not a game for me.

Not sure this remake is worth a tenner, will get it by other means if the only thing they've done is put in achievements and cloud saving. Feel like a nostalgic revisit though.

I always remember the opening scenes on FFVII, absolutely epic at the time, plus all the small mini games packed into the game just made it seem really well fleshed out.

Having to find save points is doing my head in, I keep saying to myself "only 5 minute then I'll go to bed" but then I have to try and find a save point :(

I got an email a few months back from Square about their PC re-release, so paid and downloaded it, haven't started it just yet, been too busy with WoW.

This game is amazing, I cannot count how many times ive completed it and spent 100+ hours just completing and getting all the items. So much fun.
