Epic day at Stiniog today, clear skies, dry and sunny!

Hit every single jump on the new black trail, had quite an audience for the bottom cliff drop and doubles. A couple of guys followed me over the bottom section and we got a nice train going on.

Slid off my bike and almost sliced the top of my pinky off, ouch!

Didn't even notice till I got to the end of the trail and saw blood. :D Looked like it might have been broken but got another few runs in on the blacks, much rather ride than sit in an A & E.

Two large dents in my rear rim and it really needs truing now. My rear Muddy Mary has a large slice in it that even my sealant couldn't fix. Looks like this place is starting to be a real tyre killer for me. :(

Aston hill looks pretty sweet only about hour and half drive from me might have to check it out.

Whats It like this time of year with all the rain?

Finger looks sore....is the nail ripped off ? Are you gonna be ok for Thursday?

The on site first aider 'recommended' a trip to A & E but I decided to keep riding. I bobbed my head in our local Hospital last night but it was packed so came straight back out, will try again this morning. The finger's not really straight any more so not sure if it's broken, dislocated or deformed due to swelling. The nail is still in tact. :D

I've ordered some DH tubes so I can get some more use out of my rear tyre, they should land before Thursday, I may take my wheel to get trued too under the stipulation that it has to be done by Wed. As long as I don't go down on my left hand I should be fine, I was hitting all the drops and jumps with it yesterday.

Fingers crossed I'll be good for Thursday and I'm back next Saturday too. :p

I'll at least manage to get it re inflated and get some more use out of it. At the moment I have a 2 cm slice in the tread surface that leaks air when the tyre is under any load, sealant just squirts out of it. Tyre is almost brand new so don't want to just dump another £30 on another.

Your new trail down at Aston Hill looks great btw! :)

You should be able to repair it, pinkbike did a how to article with loads of various repair methods in a couple of months ago. I would try to stitch it or stick a patch on the inside, or both.

Edit:

Blur TRc + Glentress http://vimeo.com/51616851 I'm 99.5% confident that because I now have this frame I'll be able to do most of the riding in that video ( :p )

bah! broke my front shifter at swinley yesterday, no clicks on it now somehow
thinking of binning front mech and shifter and just going 1x9

im not so good at pushing big gears but would 32t front with a 9 speed 11-34 cassette be ok for most trail centre-y stuff?

need a chainguide as well, no isg mounts so has to be BB mounted
whats good? dont want a bash guard (hope chainring or renthal chainring?) , was hoping to find a bargain as well (around £50?)

do I need special chainring bolts to run my xt m770 cranks with a single ring?
or do the standard ones work?

can find an e13, superstar and dmr one cheapish, but people say the superstar one is noisy, although they dont look very tidy when you push them down to 32t (leaves loads of backing plate sticking out)

not asking for much just cheap, quiet, light, easy to setup, not to big and looks nice lol

I meant is it all cut up like a mudbath or?

One of the guys i ride with said he has been beforeand took his downhill bike but i should be fine on my XC trek fuel ex.

Care to comment?

Any bike will be fine, though I must admit that Aston is not the most forgiving place in the wet. There are a lot of off-camber roots which are very hard to ride in the wet. It's one of the reasons we built this new track, which runs well during the crappy seasons :)

I doubt a repair job will hold tbh, tube is gunna be quickest solution and least hassle by the look of it. I'll check the article out anyway.

Turns out my finger is broken in two places. No riding on Thursday but nothing's gunna stop me having another go on Saturday, obviously have been advised not to ride but when's that ever stopped us, eh? :D

Well me and a few mates tackled Snowdon on Saturday, wow! Was a bit shocked at how little we could bike on the way up, very rocky and lots of walkers so spent the best part of 2 hours pushing up.

Great run down the Rangers Path on the way down though, some bits were unrideable mind, super rocky! Telegraph Valley was a nice fun blast to finish. A great experience all round.

Sunday we went to Penmachno, first time there and I was pretty impressed. Miles of narrow, rocky singletrack, we were all having a blast ... Until I came a cropper and landed badly off a jump. Knew straight away something was wrong, a trip to A&E later and I've a broken collarbone :(

Anyone else done a similar injury? The pain is unreal at the minute.

Damn, hope you heal up quickly.
The only injury I had in that area was an anterior (think that's what the back bit is called) clavicular dislocation ( basically tearing the muscle off the clavicular where it attaches to the rotator cuff) and the like.

Worst pain is broken ribs, by a substantial margin!

Went to the superstar unit today to pick up some goodies :D

And I recently got my old superstar AM490 wheel set back off a friend but the rear wheel was fubar, free hub knackered and so were the bearings so had to get all the kit to rebuild:

Edit: The lil black mushroom spacer things on the bottom picture are to convert the front wheel from QR to 15mm.

Oh man that sucks, classic bike injury though and at least you can say you've broke it now :p Glad you enjoyed Snowdon, sort of good it happened at 'machno I suppose and not half way up Snowdon in the rain.

Got a new set of Nano Thru pin pedals myself, I highly recommend you upgrade the pins. Order some M4 x 10mm bolts to replace the stock pins and these pedals turn into absolute grip monsters. You can get a bag of 50 off eBay for a couple of quid. :)

Superstar claim the stock pins are M4 x 10mm but they're actually only 8mm.
