Apple don't need to sell the iPad Mini at a loss like Amazon and Google do with their tablets. Apple (Foxconn) won't be able to make them fast enough !!

It's expensive but people will buy it regardless and if it was your business you would price it the same way.

In what way is £270 a fairly good price for a 16Gb device with a 1024x768 screen res and a 7.9" screen?

It's not a fairly good price at all. It's a fairly daft price. An iPad2 is barely any more expensive.

Exactly this.

My brother just bought me an iPad 3 less than two weeks ago, and now it's out of date.

I've been in better moods than I am right now.

Not sure if people are missing the point with the fusion drive isn't th breakthrough the fact that i can move frequenly used apps from mechanical to lash storage and vice versa?

Did your iPad 3 stop working on the new of the mini's release?

I know Apple aggressively push a product replacement cycle, but that's just silly. ;)

Is it? Dual core with quad core graphics and a retina display. Apart from a smaller form factor, what can a mini do that yours can't?

First impressions -

I don't think I'd use it one handed much, it looks uncomfortable.

In addition to the above the lack of bezel around the edge is a question mark for me. I'd have to use one for a while to see whether it works.

The screen resolution. Yeah, it's not a selling point but not a massive deal either. It will look fine.

It's too expensive for what it is.

4th gen iPad doesn't bother me as a 3rd gen owner.

The iPad mini is going to fit the bill for a lot of people but I think having both a full size and a mini is excessive for those who are planning. Doubly so if they are iPhone owners too. It's just buying for the sake of it and certainly not impulsive for most at that price.

And this means we cannot be dissapointed err... how exactly?

It's a shame that once a manufacturer becomes popular enough it can release whatever substandard products it likes at whatever price it likes because a certain core of users will buy it regardless. It's also long-term unsustainable.

Can I just ask what price people were expecting apple to come in at with the ipad mini, there seems a lot of hate for it already in this thread, i was expecting it to be around £249 but as we all know apple can charge that little bit extra.

I don't think the price was the issue. The specs are below par.

A5 chip which is generations behind combined with a backwards move on the display front.

Ipad mini with retina display march 2013 ;)

I have an ipad 3 but I'm not in the least bit bothered about the refresh. We have an ipad 1 and 3 and never have performance issues with the 1 on what we do so I'm not fussed about a performance bump. I got it for the screen and my battery life is already excellent.

You could buy this one only to find out they release another in march. I think from now on like my iphone I will just stay one gen behind all the time, let the early adopters take the pains and buy from the refurb store for pads.

4G doesn't bother me, I get excellent 3G speeds on three on my ipad and wouldn't be paying the prices for atleast another 2 years anyway.

Apple aspires a lot of brand loyalty.

Think i'll get one of the iPad Mini's. I do like the size of the proper iPad, but for what I use it for the Mini is ideal. Will replace the iPad 1 anyway.

If I hadn't replaced my iMac less than 12 months ago - i'd be tempted by the new ones, they look lovely!

13" rMBP not having the better graphics is slightly annoying - been looking at replacing iMac/MBA with one machine, 13" rMBP would be perfect if it had the 650M!

But all these sub standard products do will slowly damage apples reputation as a top class hardware company and make people realise there is better out there for less money.
