So pleased I returned my iPad 3 and stuck with my 2 last time... the 3 was a massive disappointment - the 4 is what it should have been. Mind you, it's still too thick and heavy (the iPad 2 is TOO heavy and then they made the 3 even heavier?!?!).

Shame the mini isn't retina - i'd have replaced my 2 with that for sure.

You don't have to try and defend everything Apple do you know :p

No I know and I knew someone would pick up on this. I mean some people do hold it against apple when they dont include something for a justified reason because they dont fully understand but this iPad scenario is so messy its just going to be a firestorm for anyone who is in the slightest bit confused over it

How is the 4 that the 3 should have been?

The speed or the connector doesn't change the user experience one single bit !

I think people are turning the standard screen on the iPad Mini into more of an issue than it actually is.
I have an iPad 2 and 3 and the screen on the 2 is just as usable for 95% of tasks. Only when I'm editing photos does the higher resolution screen on the 3 show and in reality it's a task I should be doing on my desktop for the best results.

I have to agree with Fox here I love apple stuff, but Ipad mini is pointless. why have that when you can have an Ipad2?

If it had been around the £200 mark it would have really been worthwhile.

the Imac however is looking very nice. I only got rid of my old one due to work reasons

Just saw this - so they finally did it! i wonder if jobs is creaking in his grave but heyho.
its interesting but the price point is all wrong imo, it does nothing for me as an ipad 1 user looking to upgrade neither does it come near the nexus 7 or fire in price which I would have thought is the biggest issue when people buy mini tablets to use on the plane/train etc.

just a weird launch really.

So the 'new' iPad has been completely wiped out now and replaced with this iPad 'with Retina screen'? And yet the iPad 2 is still around?

Probably still being bought for business/public service use and the like.

It still just seems a completely backwards move from a company who has been pushing the fact that retina is the future and non retina screens are an inferior user experience, to go and release a new product with a ppi that's massively inferior to existing competition, nevermind their own standards.

Exactly this :D

I still use my iPad 1. Not being sold on the whole Tim Cook's money grabbing machine. At least Jobs had passion to make things better, this muppet just wants to fleece every living person for the sake of it.

I do understand the concept behind the iPad mini though. If your on the go a lot the iPad is just a little too cumbersome - like on the commute, on the tube etc. The Mini fits in nicely for these users and I suspect they want to take some money off the Android offerings of a similar size. If it did have a retina display I wouldn't think twice about getting one. I'm sure in 6 months time there will be a 'refresh' with retina display lol!

Every generations of product increases in speed...that is a given, take that away what do you have?

Ipad 1 to 2

Added front facing camera, changed design, thinner

iPad 2 to iPad 3

Added rear camera, Siri (albeit late), Retina display, 4G LTE (in the US)

iPad 3 to iPad 4

New connector.

Woopiedo?!
