Correct - It's all about the look and feel.
Just like dropping £2k on an out-of-date BMW Pro Sat Nav system, which you recommend :p

Last time I checked this was the Apple Hardware forum not Motors so I'll spare you from an explanation as to why that is a ridiculous analogy. Feel free to stick a post in the BM thread if you want to continue that one :)

I agree with you on this one but if it is still selling then you can understand why.

Well apple are the sort of a company who would mass sell a turd in a glass box (I do love apple) but this ipad situation is incredibly infuriating! I have so many arguments with people at work over how apple release things and why they do it this way and this stupid move is gonna be a little hard to defend!

You could probably still sell the original iPhone for £50 but they don't!

The continued presence of the iPad 2 is only serving to undermine the appeal of the Mini. Why wouldn't you simply spend the extra £50 to get a full sized device? As I said above - IMHO the main reason people would pick a smaller device is not because of form factor but because it's cheaper. The iPad mini simply isn't sufficiently cheaper than the iPad2.

If it had similar spec to the iPad 3 at the same pricepoint it would be a totally different story. That is what I was perhaps neively expecting from this and thats why I was looking forward to the launch with a view to purchasing.

Just to butt in to the iPad Mini argument....

WHAT THE HELL APPLE

13" rMBP is a rip-off:

* dual core
* 8GB of RAM max
* integrated graphics
* 128GB HDD

For the price of a 13" rMBP with 2.9GHz dual core & 256 GB HDD you might as well get a 15" rMBP with quad core, 256GB HDD and a dedicated GPU.

So the 'new' iPad has been completely wiped out now and replaced with this iPad 'with Retina screen'? And yet the iPad 2 is still around? :confused:

Nice cheap screen, cheap SoC. Good margin on the iPad 2. May as well keep it.

There won't be much of a cost difference between the iPad 3rd gen and 4th gen to justify a price difference.

Maybe just until they get rid of old stock? Surely selling a pad with a obsolete connector is a bit silly.
