Windows 8 who's buying/upgrading

is it possible to downgrade back to w7?
as said above steam is totally unresponsive and keeps crashing, origin the same.

cant beleive i have ruined a good w7 operating system!

stupid eu, one of the updates unpins IE from taskbar and start screen and gives you a massive choice list. Just give me back ie and **** off EU

steam works fine.
first do a windows update, then go to device manager and check nothing is wrong.
yeah just put win7 cd back in and install it.

you don't need safemode, just right click on cmd prompt and run as administrator.

you also need to create folder first.

edit - oh right your talking about deleting the old file.

So when you going to test whether the refresh feature works? I take it, it didn't include your windows.old folder in the refresh data?

How much space do i need to upgrade? 20gb? Like with RTM?

to delete windows.old

open notepad

copy and paste this, save as a .bat

SET DIRECTORY_NAME=C:\Windows.old
TAKEOWN /f %DIRECTORY_NAME% /r /d y
ICACLS %DIRECTORY_NAME% /grant administrators:F /t
PAUSE

make sure the directory is the same run it.

then you can delete it like normal.

Im not planning on testing it.
but it may well of included that. Ill probably make another one in a few days, once its all settled down.

Take ownership of the windows.old folder, give yourself full permissions on it and all subfolders and you'll be able to delete the lot.

Can this be installed fresh. I don't really want to delete my 7 install just yet so was going to install this on my other SSD. Is this possible or do you have to upgrade ? I have created a USB stick of the install.

Sorted it, just open the charm bar and search for cleanmgr, then delete it using windows clean up.

First impressions so far (from someone who hated W8 in a VM)...

Impressive! Upgraded from W7 Pro in under 20 mins (SSD).
Zipping around the Metro UI is actually very fast and responsive.
Once you know the shortcuts and mouse hotspots it's actually quite intuitive.
