You prat, go get your bitch back!
Haha, literally? I see what you did there

Maybe you should have saved the money instead of spending it on luxuries you couldn't afford.
I understand it's hard to deal with and everything Castiel, but Jaffa seems to be under the illusion that it's not totally his fault.

Exactly. You didn't care enough about the dog to make sensible financial decisions, and you're not paying for it emotionally.
We all make mistakes in life, hell I've made some right **** ups particularly when I was young...you live and learn. All I'm saying is give the kid a break, this isn't the same as his other threads and he must be feeling pretty low right now.
So if you came into some money, you would put it away, in-case down the line, your work office burns down?
It's not like I don't understand how he's feeling, I just feel like he doesn't fully appreciate how irresponsible he's been and that he won't learn from the mistake. Realising that the dog is suffering due to his actions might be a suitable start. Ignorance is no excuse - you should know this better than anyone being ex military.
If I didn't already have some money as a buffer than yes, I absolutely would! I plan for real life, which is unpredictable. Keep the excuses coming, I'm sure you're going to convince yourself that this isn't your fault at all and that you had no choice in the matter.
Yeah, I know about the lottery etc....but sometimes you just give the guy the benefit of the doubt. If he has had to give up his pet then I expect he feels pretty cut up about it, and if he lying then we should pity him all the more.....
I'd rather give him the benefit for now.

None of us are perfect, and he has done the responsible thing, he has found a good home for his dog, many would not have.
He has only done that because he has been forced to do so as it's the only option. What other options could he have taken?
Told his Dad he would look after his dog and that one extra dog wouldn't hurt. Finance wise dog foods cheap as chips so money couldn't have been the real reason. His Dad just forced him into a pretty crappy situation and he didn't have the balls to tell his Dad to pipe down and let his dog be.

it's great that you are financially aware and have the means and ability to plan for every eventuality and act responsibly with your money all the time, but some of us are not so able and we learn from cocking it up a few times first....
While this is true, not everyone has advice thrown at them left right and center, only to selfishly ignore it completely. I can't help but get a little annoyed by people that **** it up despite having absolutely tonnes of advice urging them to be responsible. It just screams hopelessly irresponsible and ignorant.
Sometimes it takes experience for it to sink in...with me it took a few times tbh....
Well in that case congratulations Jaffa on making a mistake, ensure you make a lot more mistakes as this is just how some people learn everything in life as opposed to listening to others.
Or, listen to others and stop feeling so sorry for yourself when you make a mistake.
or as my Gran used to say...if you haven't anything nice to say about someone when they are down on their luck, don't say anything.
Luck's got nothing to do with it.
