I created the ISO and booted from it onto a fresh drive and all was ok. No windows 7 on the drive ?

Same here. I installed on an Acer W500 running W8 preview.
Through the upgrade wizard I just didn't have enough space to upgrade, it was asking for 16GB, so I backed out, and chose to create a usb iso.
After booting from it I chose advance install then chose to destroy my existing partition.
It created a new partition and did a fresh install, no asking for win 7 keys or media or ought.

Easy peäsy.

Strange as upgrade from Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64 OEM to Windows 8 Pro x64 had failed to upgrade, but try unformatted SSD with clean installation Windows 8 Pro x64 and it working perfect and activated. I had create media USB flash memory stick 4GB during upgrade (for clean installation) good job I did that.

Windows 8 Pro upgrade failed

This is the message I get, Going to have a play when I get home tonight. When you say you tried an unformatted SSD how do you mean. Did it have your previous version of windows installed on it?

Can someone help clarify this for me.
I bought w8 upgrade installed last night over w7.
It's crashes and is not good.
How can I go about performing a fresh install ?
What is the best way? Wish I ha left 7 on my Pc

ive had it on my acer w500 for the last month really big improvement for tabs.

I had the full version of 8 so didn't need to upgrade on that just fresh install from USB.

I like to use the latest OS and apparently it is faster and more stable and it has a few new features that i would use like task manager and explorer toolbar. It would also be a nice challenge to see if i can make it usable :D

why do i want to use it, cause i am geek, ok. It also my job, i need to stay in with latest stuff.

Its very usable? Re-wire your brain so that it knows Metro is the new start button with more features and the OS makes sense.

Don't and it won't.

its easy once you get used to it.

Hover to the right and u still get search settings etc then everything else is metro.

Woke up this morning and the download is (finally) complete.

So I have created a USB media stick AND a DVD and copied it to a external HDD drive in case.

Let's hope it installs the right one? I could not see any option whether to download the 32-bit or 64-bit version?

FAILED to get download

Microsoft UK
Download the Windows8-UpgradeAssistant & run
Finally get to the order bit
However all fails when I try to add my UK post code, get message invalid format.

If you upgrade a retail version of Win7 Pro to Win8 Pro download for £24.99 does that mean your Win7 Pro license is no longer valid?
and does it mean that you could use Win8 Pro like a retail version, which would allow an install on different hardware.

Hi guys, need some advice please. I currently have Windows 7 on my machine and want to purchase a Windows 8 upgrade lisence and install it to a new drive leaving my Windows 7 install in tact. I have a Windows xp license that I want to upgrade to windows 8 but my copy of windows xp isn't installed on anything, can I buy the windows 8 upgrade and use the xp license, leaving my win 7 alone?

Thanks
