I had that. Make sure you add the space. [xxxx xxx].
Woke up this morning and the download is (finally) complete.
So I have created a USB media stick AND a DVD and copied it to a external HDD drive in case.
Let's hope it installs the right one? I could not see any option whether to download the 32-bit or 64-bit version?

did others get a compatibility warning about secure boot?
'Secure boot requires firmware that supports UEFI v2.3.1 Errata 3 and has the Microsoft Windows Certification Authority in the UEFI signature database.'
Yeah I ignored that quite happily![]()
If you upgrade a retail version of Win7 Pro to Win8 Pro download for £24.99 does that mean your Win7 Pro license is no longer valid?
and does it mean that you could use Win8 Pro like a retail version, which would allow an install on different hardware.
This is the message I get, Going to have a play when I get home tonight. When you say you tried an unformatted SSD how do you mean. Did it have your previous version of windows installed on it?

You can purchase the upgrade using any machine and install it on another one. Can you fix it that way?How can you upgrade if the OS you want to upgrade isn't installed? I have a copy of Vista that I'd ideally like to upgrade from, although I have Windows 7 and Windows 8 installed on my computer.
When running the upgrade assistant on Windows 8 I get this:

On Windows 7 the upgrade assistant is stuck on 'checking apps and devices.'
This is frustrating.
Were you able to activate though?I decided to do a fresh install instead of continuing to use Windows 8 from my Windows 7 upgrade.
I booted from the Windows 8 CD I created, entered the product key and it allowed me to format my SSD and install Windows 8 from fresh. Boots a lot more quicker now![]()
There is no desktop search, why people can't get their head around that is beyond me.
Were you able to activate though?
I'd really like the answer to these as well.
