I'd go for Roger Moore because I enjoyed the humour of his films.

He's also tougher than he looks. I reckon he could 'have' Connery and Craig at his peak.

Connery is the best actor to play the role.

Goldeneye is the best "what a bond film should be" and is Brosnan's only good one that holds out over time.

Dalton got the best scripts but didn't do enough with them.

Moore got lumped with some of the worst but made them his own.

Craig has been landed with bad writing and bad directing.

Lazenby just doesn't count

Dalton was only doing what Craig has done with Bond, but fans just didnt get it.

He would have been back for Golden Eye but couldnt be doing with it.

I don't think there is any real chronology. Bond is a cipher.

Well that's what I kinda thought but in the Fleming world, he had a father with the last name Bond, so it's hard to distinguish whether it's always been one person with a singular storyline adapted to the current age, or whether it is different people with a singular identity who come and go.

I grew up with Roger, so to me he was Bond. The sharp suits, the gadgets, the music and the humour did it for me. To this day I still love watching his chase scene in For Your Eyes Only with the yellow 2CV.

I liked Dalton in the Living Daylights and Brosnan in Golden Eye. Both really good Bond films. I like Craig, but his films feel like generic action films rather than 'Bond Films'.

That said I am looking forward to Skyfall.

Dalton was trying to take Bond away from the jokey playboy of Moore, he got a little too sucked in and (although I do like both of his films, especially license to kill) he didn't make the role his own as such (basically got bogged down being the original Bond and not who he wanted Bond to be).

Craig is stuck without the means to impress his vision of the role onto the film as they are less about Bond the character and more about Bond the hero (personal frustration/interpretation here, probably will be shot down).

That seems a pretty accurate summation. Brosnan really got a raw deal in terms of films, with the exception of Goldeneye, which is a masterpiece. And Moore got very silly films, but was very silly with them, and it just about fit together.

Yeah I like to think what would have other Bonds done with each film, I don't think any of them could have mucked up Goldeneye really, but quite a few of them have real writing/casting or directing problems that almost limit the role of Bond. Thankfully, most of the Bonds have been good enough actors to get round the problems or make the best of them, limiting the bad Bonds to only a handful.

How can anyone choose Craig? Worst bond yet.

Would rather Robbie Williams had got the part than him.

Sorry... the books have a definite chronology. I don't think the films have any meaningful chronology.

Roger Moore for me, Connery is too flash for an undercover agent :p

Clive Owen would be a excellent Bond.

That's a great shout, he's certainly got the charm and the looks

I think that Fassbender could pull it off to a tea also

Craig. Maybe not quite how Bond was written, but he has brought a lot to the role and really was what the series needed. But he has really had the best of everything, the direction and the editing being up there. Skyfall is AMAZING. Not just the best Bond IMO but really is one of the best films I've seen for a long time
